The humidity in Delhi is the biggest enemy of your favorite metal-based accessories, causing them to tarnish quickly. Even if you are just coming home from a long day, wipe your pieces with a dry tissue to remove sweat or perfume residue before you store them away. A tiny bit of care goes a long way. Let’s be real for a second. We all love our statement pieces, but we need to accept that artificial jewelry is metal. It is not gold, so it is going to react to the environment if you do not treat it right. ### The Golden Rules of Jewelry Care * **Say No to Moisture:** This is the most important one. Do not wear your jewelry into the shower, the pool, or the gym. Sweat and chlorine are the fastest ways to dull the polish. Keep your jewelry off until you are completely done with your makeup and perfume, too. * **The Silica Hack:** You know those little pouches you find in new bags and shoes? Do not throw them away! Put them inside your jewelry box. They soak up the moisture and keep your pieces safe and dry. If they lose effectiveness, just leave them in the sunlight for a bit to 'recharge' them. * **Don’t Rip the Tags:** I see so many people rip off price tags as soon as they get home, and then they wonder why the clasp broke. Our tags are non-tearable for a reason. Always, always use a pair of scissors to cut them off properly. * **Storage Matters:** Forget throwing everything into one big pile. Get a proper jewelry box with compartments so your pieces don't scratch each other. Finally, is jewelry re-polishable? Sometimes, if it has a brass base, you might find someone in Lajpat Nagar or Rajouri Garden to do it, but honestly? It is never going to look brand new again. It is always better to be proactive and careful with your pieces from day one.
