For receptions, we often combine a lush vertical garden base with deep-hued velvet sofas and warm chandelier lighting to create a focal point that looks polished in photographs and feels intimate for conversation. It is a balance between a high-energy Sangeet stage and the sophisticated needs of a wedding reception. Designing a reception or Sangeet setup requires a shift in priorities. While your main ceremony may focus on traditional mandaps and ritual spaces, these evening functions are where we lean into atmospheric design. We look at the venue’s architecture—like utilizing the natural reflection of a pool for lighting at venues like The Lalit Ashok—to amplify the room's energy. ### Why Structure Matters For a reception, the backdrop is the most photographed element. We move away from flat drapes and instead use high-density fern walls or structured floral installations. This creates depth in the background so that photos don't look flat. We pair these with velvet sofas rather than standard chairs, which adds a tactile, luxurious feel to the stage. ### Lighting for Atmosphere Sangeet nights demand a different approach. We prioritize dynamic lighting, using fairy light canopies and crystal chandeliers to create a ceiling of light that defines the dance floor. Whether you want a high-energy party vibe with disco elements or a sophisticated garden reception with floral arches, the goal is to make the space feel distinct from the rest of your wedding events. ### Practical Details We understand that your guests spend significant time in the lounge area, so we ensure the stage layout does not crowd the space. If you are planning an outdoor event, we consider ground conditions and wind resistance for all hanging floral installations and light structures. We can walk you through the structural requirements for your chosen venue during our initial consultation. ## About Petals We see every wedding as a personal narrative waiting to be told.
