Whether it is a classic Bhavageethe or a fusion piece, I do not just sing—I share the meaning behind the lyrics and the context of the composition, so the music becomes a shared experience rather than a performance to be observed from a distance. My music is rooted in the rich tradition of Kannada Bhavageethe and the poignant storytelling of ghazals. When I perform these pieces, I am often drawing from the deep well of compositions by stalwarts like Mysore Ananthaswamy and C Ashwath, whose melodies have shaped my own artistic journey. Each song in my repertoire is chosen not just for its melody, but for the story it tells—from the verses of Kuvempu to the evocative poetry of Dr. H.S. Venkateshmurthy. I believe music should bridge the gap between the performer and the listener. In these intimate settings, I often intersperse songs with translations or the background of the poetry, ensuring that even if someone is not fluent in the language, the emotion of the piece lands clearly. It is about creating a space where we can breathe, reflect, and connect. For private events, I treat these melodies as a living, breathing dialogue. I do not use backing tracks; I prefer the raw, acoustic texture of live harmonium and vocals, or the subtle resonance of an accompanying tabla. This is ideal for Baithak (floor seating) setups, living room concerts, or gatherings where the focus is on shared stories and deep, meaningful conversations.
