We gather on the floor to bring tales to life with puppets and interactive dialogue, and we immediately follow that with a hands-on craft or sensory activity. This structure helps children process the story through creation, ensuring they go home with something tangible they built themselves. Our workshops go beyond simple book reading. We want children to jump into the stories, roaring along with characters or balancing like they are in the tale. By using techniques like Kamishibai, a traditional Japanese story box, and shadow puppetry, we transform our library at The Green Pocket into a theater for the imagination. ### The Workshop Experience Every Friday, we host our standard storytelling and craft sessions. These hour-long gatherings start with a theme and move into movement-based activities—yoga, acting, or singing—before settling down for a craft. Whether we are painting, making paper puppets, or working with clay, the focus is on the process, not just the result. For those who love getting dirty, our outdoor sessions feature sensory mud play. It is a chance for kids to connect with nature, dig in the garden, and use their hands to create, which we believe is essential for emotional and creative growth. We also hold extended workshops on weekends that include music and more elaborate sensory projects. ### Why Parents Choose Us We provide an informal environment where children feel comfortable enough to speak up, ask questions, and just be themselves. Our library space is designed for comfort, with floor seating on dhurries and a shoes-off policy. We believe that when children are relaxed, they are more open to learning about complex emotions like friendship, kindness, and honesty through the characters they meet in our books. We welcome parents to join the circle. It is a community space for families to connect and share a quiet, creative hour away from the noise of the city. ## About Ourstoryshelf We are Ourstoryshelf, a space where books are just the starting point for big adventures. We believe in messy hands, loud laughs, and giving children the room to be themselves through stories and tactile play.
