## About Festivals & Cultural Celebrations

When we celebrate festivals, we skip the cookie-cutter crafts. Instead, children might spend the morning carefully churning butter for Janmashtami or arranging fresh flowers for our Pookalam. It is messy, it is authentic, and it gives the children a tactile way to connect with the stories and traditions we share together.

In our classrooms, festivals are never just about a day off or a superficial activity. They are an extension of our curriculum. Whether we are decorating diyas for Diwali or creating hand-printed symbols for Independence Day, we focus on the process rather than the final product.

### Learning Through Ritual
We view cultural celebrations as a unique opportunity to cultivate intrinsic motivation. When a child learns the significance of a festival through hands-on work—like preparing snacks or participating in traditional movements—they are doing more than learning history. They are developing fine motor skills, patience, and a sense of belonging.

### A Shared Experience
Our festivals are deeply rooted in the community. We involve the children in every step, from the preparation to the cleanup, which reinforces their role as active members of a group.
