In my studio sessions, we start by grounding your rhythm, teaching you how to build clear, resonant sounds while maintaining the poise and grace of your upper body. Flamenco is not just about moving to the beat. It is about understanding the 12-beat rhythmic cycles that form the backbone of the dance. In my workshops, we break down these complex rhythms, ensuring you feel the music before you step into your first sequence. ### Technique and Form We dedicate significant time to braceo (arm movements) and floreo (hand rotations). While the feet drive the percussion, the arms tell the story. This balance between strength and softness is what gives Flamenco its dramatic flair. You will learn to control your posture, ensuring your zapateado remains sharp without compromising the fluid elegance of your upper body. ### The Studio Experience Dance requires the right foundation. My studio in Defence Colony is equipped with professional wooden laminate flooring. This is crucial for shock absorption, letting you practice those intense footwork drills repeatedly without strain. We use full-length mirrors to help you self-correct your alignment in real-time, making sure your form is as solid as your technique. ### Why Join Whether you are looking for a new hobby or want to master a challenging rhythmic form, these sessions are designed for focused learning. I keep the environment energetic, drawing on my own stage performances to ensure you understand how each movement translates from the practice studio to a live audience. ## About Nandita Kalaan I juggle my time between designing homes and chasing the rhythm of dance. Flamenco allows me to tap into a different kind of fire compared to my classical training, and I love sharing that intensity with others.
