In my performances, I focus on how the music lands in your body, whether you want a piece that is soft and lyrical or something sharp and technical. If you are planning a solo act or need a routine for a special event, let’s talk about the mood you want to capture, because a performance is only as good as the feeling behind it. While my roots are in Bollywood and folk, contemporary dance is where I find the most room to breathe. I call it 'dreaming on my feet.' This style allows me to strip back the big production elements and focus on raw, unfiltered expression. ### How We Approach It - **Fluidity & Floorwork:** Contemporary is physically demanding. You will see me moving from standing to floor sequences, using gravity and momentum to drive the dance. - **Emotional Mapping:** We do not just pick a song. We pick a feeling. Whether it is a slow, lyrical track that requires delicate, soft movements or a high-energy fusion piece with jazz accents, I tailor the choreography to match the intent of your event. - **Technical Fusion:** Because I often perform for varied crowds, I enjoy mixing contemporary fluidity with sharp, urban hip-hop or jazz accents. It keeps the audience engaged and adds a layer of surprise to the performance. ### Practical Logistics - **Custom Audio:** I handle the track mixing. I generally need the final music track or the mood board at least 48 hours before the event to ensure the audio transitions are smooth. - **Space Requirements:** Contemporary and lyrical pieces often require more stage space than a standard Bollywood act due to floorwork. If you have a tight stage, let me know, and I will adjust the choreography to ensure it still looks impactful without feeling cluttered. - **Outfit & Tech:** For these performances, I usually prefer outfits that allow for full range of motion. If you have a specific theme, we can coordinate the costume style while keeping functionality in mind. ## About Naina Modi I am Naina, a software engineer who lives for the stage.
