## About Yoga with Props: Your Practice Assistants

Think of props as an extension of your own body. Whether it’s using a yoga wheel to gently open your spine or blocks to elevate your hands in Downward-Facing Dog, these tools help you find the correct alignment without unnecessary strain. It’s about working smarter, not harder, so you can focus on the breath and the internal movement, rather than fighting for space in a pose that feels just out of reach.

### Why Use Props?

In my practice, I always emphasize that using support is not a sign of weakness; it is a sign of intelligence. When we use blocks, straps, wheels, or the wall, we are not 'cheating'—we are inviting the body to open up safely.

### How We Use Them

* **Blocks:** I use these to bring the floor closer to you. If you struggle to touch your toes, blocks help you keep a flat back and open chest in forward folds, preventing rounded shoulders.
* **Yoga Wheels:** These are my favorite for deep backbends and heart openers. They support the natural curve of your spine, allowing you to release tension in the chest and shoulders without the risk of overstretching.
* **Straps:** Perfect for when you need to maintain proper alignment in poses like seated forward bends or to keep your shoulders engaged during specific arm balances.
* **The Wall:** A vital tool for inversion practice. It provides the grounding I need to build confidence in handstands or to deepen side-body stretches like in Triangle Pose.

### Accessible Alignment

Yoga is about *abhyaas* (consistent practice), not the perfect shape. By using these props, you can hold poses longer and breathe deeper, which is where the real physiological change happens. Whether you are working on mobility, recovering from a sports injury, or simply trying to find a bit more *sukoon* (peace) in your daily flow, props ensure your alignment is correct for your unique body type. This is how we build long-term mobility and ensure your practice remains sustainable for years, not just weeks.
