## About Custom Furniture & Product Design

### Why I Design Furniture That Talks Back

I'm not here to just fill up a room. At MuseLAB, we design pieces that carry meaning, spark conversations, and sometimes make you smile. I see furniture as more than function - it should have personality, quirks, even a story.

### How It Works: Your Story Comes First

I start by listening - maybe you love a particular poem, or your nani’s (grandma’s) old holiday stories. That’s where the design begins. Function and form grow out of your own narrative, so every piece feels personal, not generic.

### What I Make

From *bespoke wooden swings* (oonjals) with intricate work, to *sculptural lounge chairs* that double up as art, my designs are all about making a statement. Dining tables with curvy wood bases, or *custom stone inlay tables* that play with colour and texture, end up being the centerpieces. Storage? Not boring - I give cabinets and bar units hidden details, sometimes inspired by old Chettinad doors.

Lighting is another playground - floor lamps and pieces that are part sculpture, part function. I get a kick out of collaborating with *artisanal furniture makers India*, from Channapatna toy craftsmen to wood sculptors.

### Materials That Matter

You’ll see a lot of teak, oak, ash, marble, terrazzo. I’m obsessed with what each material can do, and I always work with artisans who know their stuff.

### Why Collaborate?

The best ideas happen when people share - so I work with a tribe of artists and makers. That’s how one-of-a-kind pieces are born.

In the end, I want furniture that feels like it belongs to you, not just to a house.

## Meet your expert

[MuseLAB](https://mytribe.in/muse.lab)

### My story

We’re Huzefa and Jasem, behind MuseLAB, right here in Bombay. City’s noisy, but we chase those rare peaceful corners - call it Seijaku, like the Japanese do. For us, a home is a lived story, not just some walls. We’ll ask about your favourite poem before we ask about your square footage. The best bit? Our team’s got no bosses, just a bunch of curious folks trying to outdo ourselves, every time.

### My work

- **What we do**: We design unique residential interiors - city flats, big family homes, plus our own custom furniture and lighting line, martbylab.
- **Our way of working**: We listen, dig for your stories, then mix in playful home decor and bold materials. No cookie-cutter stuff here.
- **Design with a wink**: A swing in your living room? A lamp stuck to the wall? We love adding whimsical interior details that spark joy.
