It was built for three generations of a family, with every floating staircase and hand-painted mural serving a specific, lived-in purpose. This recognition serves as a confirmation that even the most ambitious, bespoke concepts can become comfortable, enduring homes when they are designed around the people who actually live there. ### A Recognition of Process Winning India’s Best Design Project 2024 for the Evelyn duplex was a surreal moment, but the true joy lies in the journey that got us there. My design philosophy has always been to prioritize functional luxury over showy trends. When we designed this 4,200 sq. ft. penthouse in Mumbai, our goal was simple: to create a sanctuary where the architecture supports the family's daily rhythms. ### Designing for Real Lives Being featured in Good Homes Magazine further solidified our commitment to the concept of 'warm minimalism.' Our work in this project involved complex structural elements like marble staircases and customized lighting, yet the focus remained on the softness of the space—the tactile textures, the natural light, and the quiet elegance of a home that breathes. We believe that professional recognition should stem from how well a space performs for its owners. ### Our Commitment to Bespoke Excellence Whether we are designing a flagship retail store or a private residential duplex, we apply the same rigor that earned us these accolades. We do not believe in off-the-shelf solutions. Every project we take on involves a deep dive into your lifestyle, creating custom furniture and art installations that reflect your personal story. If you are looking for an interior architect in Mumbai who balances high-end aesthetics with genuine comfort, I invite you to discuss your vision with us. Let us move beyond the standard and create something that truly belongs to you. ## About Meenakshi Jessani I founded MJ Architects to move away from generic spaces and toward homes that breathe. Today, my team and I hold that same standard for every project, treating every detail—from the grain of the wood to the angle of the light—as a conversation about how you want to live.
