I am dedicated to creating safer, more compassionate spaces for both pets and the community they live in. ## Photos and videos - [Video: I believe in fostering compassion from a young age. Take the concrete water bowls I install around the neighborhood—they are heavy and sturdy, ensuring local strays stay hydrated in the Mumbai heat without the risk of plastic bowls being stolen or blown away. My work outside the training ring is just as important as the training itself. I believe that if we want better lives for our dogs, we have to start by changing how the community interacts with them. This is why I focus heavily on practical, hands-on community projects. ### Teaching the Next Generation Compassion is a skill that needs to be taught. I conduct safety workshops for schools and birthday parties, often bringing along Junior, a gentle, certified therapy dog. During these 90-minute sessions, kids learn to read dog body language, how to safely greet an animal, and the basics of responsible care. It’s not about theory—it’s about giving children the confidence to interact with dogs without fear, which helps reduce accidental bites and fosters a future generation of animal lovers. ### Supporting Our Street Dogs Our city strays face constant challenges, from finding clean water to getting a decent meal. When I travel for seminars, my team and I always carry food supplies to support local indie dogs. Locally, I collaborate with organizations like Heads Up for Tails to place durable, weighted concrete bowls in areas with high stray populations. This simple act solves a major problem: dehydration. It is rewarding to see how quickly the local cats and dogs learn to use these stations, providing them a reliable water source that doesn't get kicked over or displaced. Whether it’s advocating for adoption or setting up these feeding points, my goal is to bridge the gap between the human world and our four-legged neighbors. If you are part of a school, housing society, or community group interested in these education workshops, reach out—let’s make your neighborhood a kinder place. ## About Mitali Salvi I'm Mitali. People often ask me why I spend so much time on the streets and with kids when I could just be in my training facility. The answer is simple: a dog trainer's job doesn't end at the gate—it's about making sure the world outside is safe for our dogs, too.
