I secure a gentle sound unit inside each toy, so it makes a soft chime rather than a harsh noise. Since babies explore with their mouths, I use only natural, untreated beech wood rings and 100% cotton yarn, ensuring everything is plastic-free and completely washable if it gets messy. When I started crocheting, my grandkids were my first critics. That is why I obsess over the little things. Mass-produced toys often hide chemicals or loose plastic parts, but my rattles are stitched with soft cotton yarn and embroidered facial features—no plastic eyes or beads to worry about. **The Process** Each piece takes me hours to complete, from the spiral crochet construction to sewing on the tiny animal heads. Whether it is a fox, elephant, or a sleeping penguin, I make sure the stuffing is high-grade hypoallergenic polyfill that holds its shape through every hug and wash. **Why parents love them:** * **Teething-safe:** The beech wood rings provide a firm, smooth surface for sore gums. * **Developmental:** The contrasting colors and distinct shapes help newborns track movement. * **Easy care:** Babies are messy, and that is okay. You can easily hand wash these in cool water, and they dry as good as new. * **Personal Touch:** Looking for a thoughtful baby shower gift? These are unique, practical, and show that you put real thought into the baby's first toy. Aapko kaun sa animal pasand hai? Let me know if you want a specific animal, and I will craft it for you. ## About Mamta Gupta Namaste, I am Mamta. At 61, I found my joy in crocheting toys for little ones.
