In this clip, I break down how different light sources, like a large umbrella versus a beauty dish, create entirely different moods and define a subject's features. It's not about the gear; it's about training your eye to understand how light falls and how to use it to tell your story.](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/raw:1/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/bfad0bc2-a0bf-4108-aced-d8abdc01276d) - [Video: This moment from Shutterfest in the USA captures the heart of my teaching philosophy: community over competition. While I was teaching a class on high-fashion maternity portraits, I held my student's baby so she could focus on her craft. Whether I’m holding a student’s baby at a conference in the US or breaking down lighting setups at my Gurgaon studio, my philosophy is simple: community over competition. My workshops aren't about textbook theory; they are about real talk, practical safety techniques, and finding the confidence to turn your passion into a sustainable career. Photography education should be transparent. That is why I do not gatekeep. My journey from a tiny home studio to teaching on international stages like Shutterfest has taught me that the best growth happens when we learn together, share our mistakes, and hype each other up. ### My Approach to Education My workshops in Gurgaon are designed for hands-on learning. We cover the entire spectrum, from mastering the exposure triangle to the delicate art of newborn safety. I believe that safety is the absolute foundation of this work; if you cannot prioritize the comfort and health of a baby or a mom-to-be, the gear does not matter. ### What We Cover - **Artistic Lighting:** We move beyond basic settings to see and shape light, teaching you how to use modifiers to sculpt and flatter your subjects. - **Business & Strategy:** I share the hard lessons from my own career—pricing, branding, and finding your niche—to help you build a profitable business. - **Hands-On Mentorship:** Whether you are in a group cohort or a 1-on-1 mentorship, expect a deep dive into your portfolio. We identify your weaknesses and turn them into strengths. ### Recognition and Community Being honored with the Best Maternity Portraits award at the Cluster of Achievers was a moment of pride, but the real reward is seeing my students take their own leaps of faith. If you are ready to stop clicking and start creating art, join me at the studio. Let’s create something real. ## About Memories by Barkha I am Barkha, and I believe photography is a heartfelt conversation.
