It’s a live fusion piece where my sitar trades notes with violin, guitar, keys, and drums, creating a sound that’s both rooted in tradition and buzzing with modern life.](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/raw:1/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/be542143-d8f8-4a7e-a2d1-8c4f825c3988) - ![I am thrilled to announce my 2025 USA tour. I love layering the sitar to create a powerful, orchestral sound that gives a new dimension to Western rock anthems. I took a moment by the canals of Amsterdam to play "Tere Naina," and soon, a crowd of strangers gathered to listen. Whether it is an intimate acoustic trio with guitar and tabla or a full-blown rock fusion concert with drums and bass, my focus remains on the melody. I do not just play songs; I create a space where the sitar conversations with jazz, blues, and even rock. If you are planning an event, think about the energy you want—do you prefer the meditative stillness of a morning raga or the electric pulse of a city-inspired fusion set? My music is shaped by my 7th-generation lineage and my love for the unexpected. When I perform 'Inherited,' a piece composed by my father, it is about heritage. When we play 'Midnight in Delhi,' it is about the grit and energy of the urban landscape. ### Why Book a Sitar Fusion Set? * **Versatility:** We move from Indian classical to reimagined Western hits like Imagine Dragons or Mozart. * **The Ensemble:** I work with professional tabla players, violinists, and drummers who understand the nuance of the sitar. * **The Sound:** We provide specialized contact microphones and pickups for the sitar, ensuring the acoustic warmth is maintained even in large, amplified settings. ### A Note on Production To get the best sound, I am particular about the technical rider. For the full rock fusion ensemble, a 90-minute soundcheck is non-negotiable. I want the bass and the sitar strings to hit just right. If you are hiring me for a corporate or private event, let’s talk about the space. A quiet garden concert needs a very different acoustic setup than a high-energy Sangeet at a banquet hall. My goal is to make sure the music is the most memorable part of your day. ## About Mehtab Ali Niazi I grew up playing my father's tunes, and today, I take that same sitar to stages across the world. For me, music is the bridge between old-world ragas and the pulse of the city. I am just as at home playing a quiet morning raga as I am rocking out with a full ensemble.
