When I look at a dancer, I am looking for someone who understands that being a professional is a 24/7 commitment, not just the two hours spent under studio lights. ### The Business of Dance Many dancers struggle because they focus only on the choreography. You need to master the basics: a CV that highlights your physical stats, a high-definition showreel that captures your technical range, and the ability to read a contract. Whether you are aiming for international placements in the USA or a role in a local large-scale production, you must treat your portfolio as your most important asset. ### Rehearsal Discipline Behind every 'wow' performance is a lot of 'once again' in the studio. I teach my team that rehearsal management is a skill. It involves spatial awareness, injury prevention, and the ability to take correction without ego. If you cannot maintain focus during a four-hour rehearsal, you will struggle when the stakes are higher. ### Professional Networking Your reputation is the only thing that travels faster than you do. Declining a contract professionally, following up with casting directors, and showing up on time are non-negotiable. I have seen too many careers stall because of a lack of professional etiquette.
