This requires specific material choices—like fair-faced concrete or textured stone—that react well to changing light levels. We do not rely on excessive artificial lighting to create a mood; we prefer working with the natural volume of the space to let the architecture speak for itself. ### Our Design Philosophy At the core of our practice is the belief that a structure must respond to its environment. By studying the path of the sun, we position voids, courtyards, and apertures to create dynamic interiors that change their character from morning to evening. This approach transforms static rooms into living, breathing environments. ### Materiality and Light We frequently work with raw, honest materials—concrete, stone, and wood—because they possess a depth that allows light to settle rather than simply bounce off. In our hospitality and residential projects, we utilize these textures to ground the design. A concrete corridor is never just a hallway; with the right placement of a light well or an overhead grille, it becomes a transitional space that creates a sense of arrival. ### The Process Every project follows a rigorous path: * **Climate Analysis:** We evaluate the site to understand how the sun hits the building. * **Volumetric Studies:** We sketch and model the 'play of volumes' to ensure the space feels open yet intimate. * **Precision Detailing:** We draft detailed sections showing how light should filter through, ensuring the final construction matches the conceptual intent. Whether we are designing a boutique hotel in Tirupati or a private residence in Bengaluru, our goal remains constant: to build spaces that feel like home while celebrating the dramatic potential of light and shadow. ## About Maya Architects We are Team Maya, and we believe every building has a soul that reveals itself through the movement of light. Our practice thrives on the challenge of balancing modern aesthetics with the raw beauty of natural materials, working as a collective to ensure your space is lived in, not just looked at.
