We focus intensely on composition and light before I click the shutter, resulting in a raw, organic texture that digital sensors cannot replicate. Film photography offers a depth that digital sensors often smooth over. In these 35mm shoots, the film grain, light leaks, and unique color science become integral to the final composition. My process is not about perfect skin retouching, but rather capturing the authentic mood and spirit of the subject. I use 35mm film for editorial projects where the goal is a timeless, painterly quality. Whether we are shooting in a Mumbai studio or on location, the format forces us to slow down and inhabit the space. It is a collaborative effort between me, the model, and the stylist to get the light and the silhouette just right. We often incorporate techniques like motion blur or long exposures to enhance that dreamlike aesthetic. If you are looking for imagery that feels tangible and intentional rather than polished and digital, film is the right medium.
