Explore a collection of projects that invite you to touch, play, and connect. ## Photos and videos - [Video: This giant coloring book wall is an invitation to break the rules and play. I believe creativity shouldn't be confined to a canvas, so I created a space where adults and kids alike could experience the simple joy of coloring on walls, turning what was once considered a mess into a collective masterpiece.](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/raw:1/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/0e64750e-57e1-433f-b8e3-cc4d87069526) - [Video: I call this installation 'Bioluminescence'. It captures the magic that happens when we connect. When two or more people touch the platform, a beam of light illuminates their reflection in the mirror, symbolizing the warmth and energy we create together. It’s a reminder that our wellbeing is intertwined.](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/raw:1/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/0197e668-651e-48cb-9351-4568af798f81) - [Video: This is a glimpse into how a blank wall in a home can be transformed into a piece of personal art. This installation was created for World Environment Day using over 300 plastic bottles collected from a local waste segregation center. It’s a statement on our consumption and a testament to the beauty we can create from trash.](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/raw:1/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/bdb0cd72-b85f-492a-91fa-a77f7856d17b) - ![This mural is part of my 'Stories of Water' series, a large-scale public art project about Bangalore's water crisis. This interactive painting, 'Hidden in Plain Sight', uses a red filter to reveal a different image, exploring the masks we wear and the hidden truths within. This sculpture was born from a pile of scrap metal from a client's garage. Whether it is a mural that flows around your walls or an installation made from reclaimed scrap, I prioritize materials that tell a story and processes that invite participation. If you have a corner in your home or office that feels empty, tell me about it, and we can figure out how to breathe new life into it together. My work is born from the belief that creativity is often suppressed by rules, especially the idea that art should only be viewed from a distance. I specialize in turning blank walls into living stories and discarded materials into meaningful sculptures. ### What I bring to your space * **Custom Murals:** I do not just paint designs; I co-create them. I focus on earthy, minimal, and floral aesthetics that can wrap around corners and integrate with your existing furniture. Every mural includes surface preparation to ensure it lasts and a protective varnish that keeps it looking fresh. * **Interactive Installations:** For businesses or events, I build setups that require participation, like sensor-based art or optical illusions. These are designed to break the ice and get people talking. * **Upcycled Art:** My sculptures are proof that beauty exists in what others label as waste. From cassette tapes to metal scraps, I weld and assemble these materials into structures that serve as permanent conversation starters. I am based in Bangalore but love traveling for projects. Before we start, I typically provide digital mockups on photos of your actual wall, so you can see exactly how the light and furniture in your room will interact with the art. My process is transparent—no mystery markups, just honest work, sustainable materials, and a bit of messy fun. ## About Madhuri Umashankar I’m Madhuri. I’m a self-taught artist who believes art should be touched, played with, and messy. I spend my days turning scrap into sculptures and blank walls into interactive stories, usually with a bit of paint on my hands.
