I do not aim for machine-perfect symmetry. Instead, I focus on wabi-sabi details: the slight wobble in the rim of a snack bowl, the organic flow of a hand-painted floral motif on a platter, or the specific way the glaze pools on a carved edge. Because these are stoneware and high-fired, they are sturdy enough for your daily microwave and dishwasher use, but they carry the tactile story of my hands shaping them. ### How Your Ceramics Are Made Every bowl and platter starts as a simple lump of clay in my HSR Layout studio. Whether I am throwing on the wheel for a classic, uniform shape or hand-building for an organic, raw look, my goal is to keep the energy of the maker in the piece. I treat every surface like a canvas. I use techniques like sgraffito for fine, carved lines or slip-trailing for raised floral patterns. The glazes I choose—from deep, moody indigos to speckles that mimic the earth—are all lead-free and food-safe. These pieces are meant to be used, not just displayed behind glass. ### Customizing for Your Home If you have a specific vision for your dining table, I can work with you to bring it to life. I regularly create: * **Dinnerware Settings:** Full sets of plates and bowls that match your interior color palette. * **Statement Platters:** Larger serving pieces with specific themes, like botanical illustrations or geometric patterns, perfect for hosting. * **Personalized Drinkware:** Mugs and cups that fit the aesthetic of your serving bowls. ### Caring for Your Ceramics Because my work is handmade, you will notice slight variations in size and glaze, which is part of the charm. These are high-fired stoneware pieces, so they are microwave and dishwasher safe. You do not need to baby them, but they will appreciate a little extra care compared to mass-produced factory ceramics. If you have questions about specific glazes or want to discuss a commission for your home, I am always happy to chat about what works best for your daily rituals. ## About Maati Sona I am Arunima, the person behind every squiggle and glaze at Maati Sona.
