Here, my students are learning about the iconic Indian artist Jamini Roy and creating their own masterpieces inspired by his unique style. Instead, I break down their unique styles, such as Piet Mondrian’s primary color grids or Jamini Roy’s distinct lines, into manageable steps. This helps your child understand composition and depth while developing the confidence to add their own creative twist to every piece. ### Learning the 'How' and 'Who' of Art Many parents ask if art history is too complex for children. My answer is always no. When we look at the work of Jamini Roy or S. H. Raza, we are not memorizing facts. We are looking at how they saw the world. By examining their choices in color, shape, and structure, students learn to make intentional decisions in their own work. ### Core Techniques We Explore Beyond studying artists, I teach foundational skills that serve as the building blocks for any creative project: * **Shading & Depth:** We practice blending different shades to create volume, turning flat drawings into realistic images. * **Composition:** We learn how to place elements on a page to create balance, whether we are working with abstract grids or nature themes. * **Perspective:** We simplify complex views into shapes, making it easier for young artists to draw what they see. ### My Approach in Khar West In my Khar West studio, I keep batches small, usually 4 to 8 students. This ensures that every child gets direct feedback on their brushwork and technique. We work with student-grade watercolors, acrylics, and sketch pens to build familiarity with real art tools. Whether your child is a beginner or looking to refine their skills, these sessions are designed to be a safe, pressure-free space to grow. ## About Little Hands by Uttara I'm Uttara, and my mission at Little Hands is to make art accessible and fun for every child.
