Because each Bocci 100 cluster consists of multiple interlocking, hand-blown glass spheres fused in unison, the installation relies on precise electrical balancing and careful structural planning to achieve that signature floating effect. The Bocci 100 series represents a departure from traditional lighting, where individual glassblowers work in unison to fuse interconnected, molten spheres. This method demands complete synchronicity, as each pendant is joined with the next while still hot, resulting in a cohesive, porous sculpture rather than a static fixture. Designing with this series is a tactile exercise. We work with you to determine the spatial flow, whether you envision a vertical cascade to anchor an entryway or a sprawling, horizontal cloud to define a dining room. The play of light between the translucent white, matte black, and the newer, soft pink tones creates distinct atmospheres, ranging from intimate and moody to bright and architectural. Beyond aesthetics, the technical execution is paramount. These installations often involve complex rigging to support the weight and volume of the hand-blown forms. We conduct a site audit to assess ceiling capacity and electrical pathways, ensuring that the final cloud formation sits exactly as intended, whether suspended above a kitchen island or clustered in a double-height void. ## About Lightbox We view light as a sculptural medium rather than a utility. At Lightbox, we work with architects and homeowners to source and install these Bocci masterpieces, ensuring each piece is balanced and lit to reveal its true artistic form.
