I design balconies and terraces that stand up to the Delhi climate using weather-resistant materials and smart layouts. ## Photos and videos - [Video: A tour of a compact yet serene balcony design in Gurgaon. I prefer using high-quality HPL sheets mixed with 65mm artificial grass. It gives you that rich, textured look without the rot, fading, or constant upkeep that happens with real wood in this climate. ### Designing for the Delhi Climate When we plan a terrace or balcony, the biggest enemy is not the design, but the weather. I have seen too many beautiful decks ruined by monsoon waterlogging or harsh summer sun. That is why I push for materials that actually last. - **HPL vs. Wood:** I use HPL (High-Pressure Laminate) sheets. They mimic the grain and warmth of wood perfectly but are essentially weather-proof. You get the aesthetic without the constant fear of water damage. - **The Grass Factor:** Not all grass is the same. I use 65mm artificial grass because it has a plush, realistic height. It stands up better to heavy foot traffic and looks lush even after months of Delhi dust. - **Pergolas and Shade:** If you want a pergola, we focus on the structure first. It needs to be stable and finished with materials that don't rust or peel. ### My Approach to Your Space Every terrace project starts with site inspection. I need to see the drainage points, the load-bearing capacity, and how much sun you get during the day. We don't just put furniture outside and call it a 'design.' We create a layout that flows from your living area into the outdoors. If you want to host parties, we optimize for seating and flow. If you want a morning tea spot, we focus on privacy and lighting. Tell me what you need, and we will build a space that feels like an extension of your home, not just an add-on. ## About Latest Interiors by Shivam Manchanda I'm Shivam.
