It is a living classroom where kids actually water, weed, and harvest vegetables. If you are wondering if your child will get messy, the answer is yes, and that is exactly the point. It is through this direct interaction with nature that they develop fine motor skills and the patience required to nurture a plant from seed to table. ### Learning Beyond Four Walls At Kriya, we believe that nature is the best teacher. While classroom work provides focus, the outdoors provide the freedom to explore, take safe risks, and connect with the world in a tangible way. Whether it is a science lesson about germination or an art project using found leaves and seeds, we encourage children to get their hands dirty. ### What Happens in the Garden * **Real Responsibility:** When children plant seeds, they aren't just gardening. They are learning to care for living things. They monitor growth, learn about water cycles, and eventually harvest their own produce, like chillies or greens, which often find their way into our classroom snacks. * **Sensory Discovery:** Nature is full of textures and smells. From making natural mehendi from our own plants to scavenger hunts in local parks like Cubbon Park, children engage their senses fully. * **Safe Risk-Taking:** We supervise our children, but we do not micromanage them. Whether it is a supervised meet-and-greet with animals or climbing in our garden, we allow them to test their physical limits. This builds resilience and independence, proving to them that they can handle new experiences. ### Why We Do This We often hear parents ask if a child is ready for certain tasks. Our answer is always: let them try. We follow the principle of 'swalpa try maadi' (just have a go). By stepping back, we empower children to discover their own capabilities.
