## About The Owner-Dog Bond: Guchi-Puchi, Jealousy & Other Dramas

If you think your dog is just a furry 'chand ka tukda', you are ignoring his actual personality. I have seen enough owners get bitten because they forced a hug on a dog that wanted space. Before you think about training, check if you are actually listening to what your dog is trying to tell you, or if you are just projecting your own need for validation onto him.

We love treating our dogs like human children, but this often leads to behavioral 'bhasoodi'. Understanding the dog-human bond requires accepting that your dog is, well, a dog.

### The Cuddle Trap
Hugging is often a restriction for dogs. It triggers defensiveness, especially in independent breeds like Huskies, Indies, or Beagles. If you absolutely must have your 'guchi-puchi', earn it. Use treats to make the interaction rewarding for the dog rather than an exercise in dominance. If your dog turns his head away or lip licks, he is not playing hard to get—he is telling you to back off.

### Jealousy or Just Changed Energy?
Clients often tell me their dog is a 'narcissist' or a drama queen. Usually, it is not the dog that is dramatic, but the owner. If your dog is acting out when you are sad or stressed, he is mirroring your energy. My KIGA boarding experience shows that when dogs get proper exercise and social interaction, these 'human' traits like jealousy disappear because their basic biological needs are finally met.

### Practical Reality
If your dog cannot spend 10 minutes alone without spiraling, that is not love, it is separation anxiety. Stop feeding into that cycle of codependency. My goal is to move you from emotional pet parenting to practical leadership. Start by building independence through cage-free socialization and structured walks. You do not need to be a 'parent', you need to be a partner.
