Our rescue and adoption stories highlight the bond we build with every dog and why choosing a rescue is a powerful stand against irresponsible breeding. ## Photos and videos - ![Milo the beagle's story is a sad but important one. He passed away from a chronic kidney issue likely caused by irresponsible breeding. This is why we thoroughly vet the dogs we rescue and encourage adoption as a more ethical choice.](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/raw:1/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/0774be06-5e72-416b-a503-9599ce81f3c5) ## About The Importance of Adoption: Our Stories The heartbreaking reality of dogs like Milo, who passed away due to genetic issues from irresponsible breeding, is the reason we strictly vet every rescue. When you adopt from us, you get a transparent medical history and a temperament-matched companion, ensuring you aren't just saving a life but bringing home a healthy, happy family member. ### More Than Just A Tagline When we say #AdoptDontShop, it is because we see the cost of the alternative every day. Irresponsible breeding creates long-term health complications that break the hearts of families. We don't just find homes; we ensure that the dog and the family are a perfect fit. ### Our Vetting Process We know it can feel like a lot when we ask questions about your home, family, and lifestyle. But we do this for a reason. Whether you are looking for a playful Indie or a purebred rescue, we need to know the dog will be safe and loved for their whole life. - **Medical History:** Every dog we rehome comes with a full medical record. You will know exactly what vaccinations they have had and any health history we have tracked. - **Temperament Matching:** We don't believe in 'first come, first served.' We believe in 'right dog, right home.' We assess energy levels so a high-energy dog goes to an active home and a senior dog goes to a calmer one. - **Ongoing Support:** Even after the adoption is finalized, we are here. If you have questions about behavior or health, you are part of the K9 Gurukul family now. ### Why We Charge an Adoption Fee We often get asked why there is a cost to adopt. That fee goes directly into medical care, vaccinations, deworming, and sometimes sterilization. It helps us keep the next streetie safe and healthy, covering the costs of the care they needed before they met you. When you adopt, you are part of the solution for Bangalore's street dogs. ## About K9 Gurukul We're a team, a family, and a group of dog lovers here at K9 Gurukul. We celebrate the wins, and we feel the losses deeply because this isn't just a job to us. We are here to help you find the right dog for your life, ensuring a happy connection from day one.
