You will need to source specific materials like teak boards, 22-carat gold foil, and semi-precious stones, and I am happy to guide you on exactly where to find these. These classes are self-paced because the intricacy of the gold foil relief or the traditional Panchavarna lining simply cannot be rushed. ### Learning Traditional Indian Art Unlike faster mediums, traditional Indian art forms are about process and history. My classes focus on the specific canons of these styles, ensuring you understand not just how to paint, but why the techniques are done this way. **Tanjore Painting** This style is famous for its 3D relief work and richness. We cover the entire traditional sequence: - Preparing the teak board with the correct base. - Creating the relief using 'muck' (chalk powder and adhesive). - Setting the semi-precious stones. - Applying the 22-carat gold foil for that classic glow. **Kerala Mural Painting** These murals are known for their bold lines and the 'Panchavarna' (five-color) aesthetic. We focus on: - Understanding the traditional color palette. - Mastering the fluid, continuous line work characteristic of the style. - Depicting mythological iconography and storytelling through paint. **Why These Classes?** I keep my studio batches small because these styles demand close supervision. You might spend an entire session just getting the eyes or jewelry of a deity right. It is a slow, methodical journey, and it is my job to make sure your final piece is something you are proud to display in your home. If you are an adult enthusiast or looking to dive into heritage arts, these sessions offer the quiet, focused environment you need to master these complex crafts. ## About Jeeva Kumari I am Jeeva, and I believe art is for anyone willing to try. Seeing my students take a plain teak board and turn it into a detailed piece of heritage art is the highlight of my week. I keep my classes small so I can sit with you and get the intricate details just right.
