Whether it is adding velvet sofas near the stage or creating dedicated lounge pockets for long-lost friends to catch up, I focus on how the furniture anchors the entire design theme. Creating a lounge area is about finding that balance between a high-end look and actual guest comfort. When I set up seating for a Mumbai wedding, I always consider the venue architecture first. At places like the RWITC, for instance, I use the natural greenery and existing structures to build pockets that feel intimate rather than sparse. I do not just place chairs. I mix textures to tell a story. Here is how I approach the lounge design: * Defining the zone: I use rugs, floor lamps, and side tables to mark out lounge areas, giving them a distinct identity within the larger space. * Texture contrast: I pair soft fabrics like velvet or linen with solid materials like wood or metal, which helps the furniture pop in photos and feel rich to the touch. * Guest experience: I always ensure the seating is placed in a way that respects the flow of the event, keeping people near the action but comfortable enough to spend the whole evening there. * Lighting: I place warm accent lighting near sofa clusters to make them feel like cozy, inviting hubs. Whether you are planning an ivory-themed wedding or a vibrant mehendi, the furniture choice changes the vibe completely. For a mehendi, I might use traditional daybeds with bright cushions to keep things relaxed. For a formal reception, I gravitate toward sleek, contemporary sofas that maintain an elegant aesthetic.
