Whether we are at a university, an arts forum, or a cultural center, my goal is to help you understand the 'why' behind the movement. We break down the grammar of Bharatanatyam, the precision of the Adavus, the language of the Mudras, and the theory that ties it all together, so you leave with a deeper respect for the art form. ### Understanding the Craft My lecture-demonstrations are designed to demystify classical dance. I often work with institutions, corporate cultural wings, and universities to present the history of Bharatanatyam and the evolution of the Kalakshetra style. These are interactive, two-hour sessions where my senior disciples and I demonstrate the contrast between Pure Dance (Nritta) and Expressive Dance (Abhinaya), providing context for every gesture. ### Learning Beyond the Studio Travel allows me to share this art with diverse communities, from Guwahati to Gwalior and Delhi. In these workshops, we focus on several key areas: * **Technical Foundation:** Refining posture, alignment, and basic footwork, specifically the Adavus. * **Theory and History:** Exploring Talam (rhythm) and the mythology behind the movements. * **Innovative Perspectives:** Discussing how technology and new media can coexist with traditional structures without diluting them. Whether you are a student exploring dance as a profession or an institution looking to host a scholarly cultural exchange, these sessions are tailored to your requirements. We ensure that every participant, regardless of their prior experience, gains a meaningful insight into the discipline required for this tradition. *Note:* I require a functional sound system and adequate wooden flooring for all practical demonstrations to ensure the safety and clarity of the performance. ## About Jayalakshmi Eshwar I have spent five decades living, teaching, and exploring the depths of Bharatanatyam.
