Always trim your stems at a sharp 45-degree angle using clean, sharp scissors, and try to do it under running water to prevent air bubbles from blocking the stem's intake. This small, deliberate habit can add days to your arrangement's life, keeping your flowers hydrated and upright. ### Beyond the Basics: Professional Flower Maintenance At IFD, we believe that understanding your flowers is the first step to truly enjoying them. Beyond just trimming, here is how you can manage your home arrangements like a pro: * **The Hydrangea Secret:** If your hydrangeas look wilted, don't throw them away. Trim the stem at a 45-degree angle, then submerge the entire bloom and stem in warm water for about 25 minutes. It is a quick, proven method to revive them. * **Temperature Control:** Flowers are sensitive to environment shifts. Avoid placing your vases near AC vents, fans, or direct sunlight. Heat sources accelerate the aging process of petals, causing them to drop or brown prematurely. * **Water Hygiene:** Change the water in your vase daily. Stagnant water breeds bacteria, which clogs stems and creates that unpleasant odor. When you change the water, give the stems another quick snip to keep the path for hydration clear. * **Mindful Maintenance:** Use your floral care routine as a moment of calm.
