In our toddler sessions, we use messy play like rainbow rice, oobleck, and ice painting to get those little hands moving while we listen to stories. This hands-on approach helps toddlers engage with books through their senses, making reading feel like pure play, not a lesson. At Hoo Hippocampus, we believe the best way to introduce books to a toddler is through their fingertips, toes, and ears. Our 'Baby & Me' and 'Busy Todd' sessions are structured to meet toddlers exactly where they are developmentally. We do not ask for quiet hours in our library, we ask for curiosity. ### What happens in our sensory and story sessions? * **Messy Sensory Play:** We create themed setups using materials like rainbow rice, homemade playdough, and sensory bins. This helps toddlers explore textures, refine their fine motor skills, and connect tactile experiences to the books we read. * **Music and Movement:** For the wiggliest toddlers, we include action songs and rhymes to channel their energy before we settle in for a snuggly book session. It keeps them engaged without needing them to stay perfectly still. * **Parent-Child Bonding:** These are interactive sessions for you and your child.
