Many people worry natural henna won't stain well, but with the right application and care, you get that deep maroon shade without any harsh chemicals or additives. Authentic henna art is about the chemistry as much as the hand-drawing. I never use chemical cones or black henna, as those can be harsh on the skin and rarely provide that long-lasting, natural color. The process begins with selecting high-quality Sojat henna powder, which I mix fresh for every client. I incorporate essential oils like Eucalyptus, which are essential for releasing the dye (lawsone) properly. After the application, I use a lemon-sugar sealant, a crucial step to keep the henna moist and trap the body heat needed for the stain to darken. Here is a reality check for the best results: patience is key. The true color develops over 48 hours. I always advise my clients in Mumbai to keep the design away from water for at least six to eight hours after the paste is scraped off, and to let it fall off naturally rather than washing it immediately.
