Here, I share the charcoal works that challenge me and the mentors who have shaped my path. ## Photos and videos - ![A proud and inspiring moment for me, being recognized by my mentor, Preeta Madam. I use charcoal to push my own boundaries, like in my Shiva Thandavam portrait, and I bring that same dedication to the students I mentor in my Mumbai studios. This space is a look into my own creative practice. Art is a journey of constant learning. When I sit down to work with charcoal, it is not just about the final portrait; it is about the challenge of balancing light and shadow. That process is exactly what I encourage my students to embrace. The struggle to get the lines right is where the real learning happens. Whether you see me sketching or attending an award ceremony with my mentor, Preeta Madam, the goal remains the same: growth. I believe that to be a good teacher, I must remain an active student. This is why I continue to refine my skills in acrylics, Tanjore, and sketching regularly. When you join my classes in Prabhadevi, Powai, or Thane, you are not just signing up for a curriculum. You are learning from someone who is actively pursuing their own artistic goals. My teaching style is built on that foundation of mutual growth. I do not just teach techniques; I share the experiences that helped me master them. If you are interested in charcoal sketching, portraiture, or any of our weekend art workshops, reach out. I keep my batches small so I can give every student the personal attention they deserve. ## About Hema's Hues Academy Hi, I am Hema.
