By choosing native species and local materials like Jodhpur stone, I create landscapes that settle into your property naturally, requiring less maintenance while becoming lush and full with every passing monsoon. My landscape design process starts with a simple goal: erasing the boundary between your home and the earth. Whether it is a compact terrace in Mumbai or a sprawling estate in Alibaug, I believe that architecture should frame nature, not replace it. I start by conducting a thorough site evaluation, mapping out how the light hits your land throughout the day. This helps me decide where to plant tall, cooling canopies and where to place open courtyards for morning coffee. Using local materials is a non-negotiable part of my practice. Using regional stone and native foliage ensures the garden feels like it has always been there rather than something imported. For urban homes, I focus on vertical greenery and privacy screening, turning small balconies into private retreats. For larger bungalows and farmhouses, I prioritize rewilding and rainwater management, integrating natural red earth pathways and boulder arrangements that work with the existing topography. My goal is to build spaces where you can disconnect from the city rush and reconnect with the rhythm of the seasons. I love collaborating with architects and clients who understand that a garden is a living, evolving project. ## About Hemali Landscape Studio I'm Hemali.
