For these narrative pieces, I use a high-precision nib that allows for the fine detailing needed to bring portraits and architectural motifs to life on the palm without cluttering the canvas. Engagement is a chapter, not just a day. Unlike bridal designs that follow specific cultural traditions, your engagement mehandi is a blank slate for us to build a story. **Planning Your Narrative** Before I even start, we talk about the symbols that define your relationship. Maybe it’s the Colosseum from your proposal trip, a custom 'mom-to-be' silhouette for a baby shower, or the exact date you met. I map these out to ensure they flow naturally with your preferred style—whether that's traditional Indian, Arabic, or modern minimal. **The Technical Craft** These designs require careful composition. I often use the central palm for the main portrait or character art and frame it with delicate patterns that complement rather than crowd your story. I use 100% natural, organic henna for these sessions to ensure you get that deep, rich maroon stain. To protect the art while you are busy with your engagement ceremonies, I apply a lemon-sugar sealant right after application, which helps the design set perfectly. **Customization** Whether you have a specific vision or just a vague feeling of 'I want us in the design,' I’m here to guide the layout. We can incorporate everything from interlocking rings to the skyline of your favorite city. We can do minimal wristbands or full-forearm narratives depending on the look you want. ## About Helly Mehandi I’m Helly, and I believe your mehandi should be as unique as your relationship. I love nothing more than sitting with you to figure out how to weave your proposal scene or 'how we met' story into a design that stays with you long after the engagement ring is on.
