In my recent Lohri projects, I incorporated fresh produce like pomegranates and chillies alongside rich ambient lighting to build an authentic, rustic atmosphere. These small, sensory-rich choices change the room dynamic entirely, making it feel less like a temporary stage and more like a space designed for genuine connection. My approach to pre-wedding design is rooted in the belief that these events deserve just as much personality and architectural care as the wedding day itself. While most event styling focuses on standard fabric drapes and basic lighting, I build environments that feel alive. For a Mehendi celebration, I lean into the energy of a carnival. This means moving away from the conventional to incorporate elements that spark conversation, like disco balls mixed with soft hydrangeas or neon signage that reflects your personal hashtag. The goal is to create a setting that is visually dense and full of life. When I work on traditional rituals like Bhaat or Lohri, I prioritize the use of natural, tactile elements. I integrate wooden frames, hanging greens, and warm, fire-hued lighting to maintain the gravity of these traditions while ensuring they look contemporary. My floral installations are never just background filler; they are sculptural additions that anchor the room, using color palettes that range from vibrant, punchy yellows and greens to deep, dramatic reds. I design every setup to tell a story, working with your chosen venue in Mumbai or beyond to ensure the decor enhances the architecture rather than hiding it. Whether you want a chic, modern lounge vibe or a traditional, earth-toned sanctuary, my focus remains on creating a space where your guests can relax and engage, not just look at a backdrop. ## About Gurleen M Puri I believe pre-wedding celebrations are where the real emotion happens. My work is about capturing that raw energy, whether it is the vibrant chaos of a mehendi or the traditional warmth of a festive gathering.
