To pull this off, I use a combination of dense ceiling rigging to create a canopy effect, paired with specific, targeted neon structures that ground the design. It is not just about stringing up lights; it is about masking the venue’s ceiling to create a contained, atmospheric bubble that feels separate from the rest of the hotel. The secret to a successful celestial setup is control. Venue ceilings often have distracting features that can break the illusion of an infinite starry night. I use heavy drapes in deep blues or blacks to mask the space, effectively turning the ballroom into a blank canvas. Once the shell is set, the layers begin. I rig thousands of crystal strings at varying heights to simulate a starry sky, but I also mix in fiber optics or pinpoint LEDs for the flicker effect. The neon is where we add the modern touch. A custom neon lotus or an abstract geometric sculpture acts as the anchor point, usually behind the stage or at the entrance. Because these are custom-bent, they allow us to play with line and light, ensuring the decor does not look like a generic party setup. We coordinate the carpet and lounge furniture to match the deep blue and purple palette, ensuring that the starry night concept is not just on the ceiling but wraps around the entire room. If you are planning a sangeet or a high-end reception, this theme works best when the venue has high ceilings to really showcase the crystal canopy effect. ## About Gurleen M Puri I design spaces that stop people in their tracks. Whether I am bending neon for a custom lotus backdrop or rigging hundreds of crystal strings to mirror a starry sky, my focus is always on the emotion the room evokes. You will not find cookie-cutter packages here; just setups that make your event feel like a living, breathing story.
