# Welcome baby decoration at home in Bengaluru

We asked four Bengaluru decorators how much notice they need. We asked what their price leaves out, and what happens to your advance if the date moves. We read the 39 requests families sent us from April to September 2026. Here's what it costs, who can do it by tomorrow, and what's safe to put up around a newborn.

Prices are the decorators' own, from what they told our team or quoted a family, and one shop's own published price. Sums and estimates are ours and say so where they appear, so check every price when you book.

## Q1. How much does welcome baby decoration cost in Bengaluru?

**Balloons in one room start at ₹1,500 at one of our decorators, and one Bengaluru balloon shop lists a fuller, counted set at ₹2,859. A kit you put up yourself is about ₹620.** A balloon ring that stands on its own is ₹3,500 to ₹6,700 at one of our decorators, depending on its size and how closely it has to match your photo, and a fuller setup through the home is about ₹5,000 at another, or ₹6,000 to ₹7,000 if he comes from beyond about 20 km.

- **A kit you put up yourself:** About ₹620. A 47-piece welcome baby kit at ₹499 and a 10 m string of lights at ₹122, both sold online. **Paying more mostly buys size:** more balloons, a frame that stands on its own, a closer match to your photo. The rest of a decorator's price is the people, the trip to your door and the props they bring and take back.

## Q2. Should I buy a welcome baby kit and put it up myself, or book a decorator?

**If someone at home is free the evening before, a kit for about ₹620 does the job; paying someone costs about ₹900 to ₹2,200 more and still needs someone home to let them in.**

**The kit works when someone is free the evening before**, a sister or a cousin, and a banner and balloons on one wall is what you want. Book a decorator when everyone is at the hospital, when you want balloons across the ceiling or a ring, or when it's for tomorrow and nobody has the evening.

## Q3. Can I get welcome baby decoration done today or tomorrow?

**Plain balloons can often go up the same day or the next, but a printed name board or a neon sign needs about two days.** If the discharge date moves, ask to move the booking: advances run from a flat ₹500 at Maruthi Events to 50 to 75% at Shubham Parties, who doesn't refund it as a rule.

**Book plain balloons for today or tomorrow.** A decorator who has the balloons in stock can often come at a few hours' notice, if they're free. TK Balloon Shades does a basic setup at 2 to 3 hours' notice and needs at least a day for anything bigger. In VSD Creative's words:

**Ask three things before you pay: the notice, the advance, and what happens to it if the date moves.** Most decorators keep the advance once they've bought the balloons, and most will move the date if they're free on the new day.

**If the doctor keeps her one more day, move the booking.** Call as soon as you know. Pay the smallest advance they take, and the rest after you've seen the setup.

**Put the move in writing before you pay.** If you booked through mytribe and something isn't going to plan, a person here sorts it out.

## Q4. Why does one decorator charge ₹1,500 for balloons in a room and a shop ₹2,859?

**For balloons in one room, Maruthi Events starts at ₹1,500 and one Bengaluru balloon shop lists ₹2,859. The shop's extra buys a set list you can count: 100 balloons in bunches, two balloon pillars and balloons on the floor and ceiling.** Maruthi's simplest setup is bunches on the wall and ceiling with a few foil balloons, shaped to your brief.

Illustrations by mytribe. The colours and foil shapes are ours: Maruthi's price says only bunches with ribbons and a few foil balloons, and the shop names no colours. Neither price includes a Welcome Baby sign.

**What the extra pays for.** The shop sells a fixed list you can count before you pay: 100 balloons, two pillars, balloons on the floor and the ceiling, and a four-hour rental. You give them a ladder and a plug point, and its page says both that its team clears up and that clearing up after is yours, so ask. Maruthi's ₹1,500 is his simplest setup: bunches on the wall and ceiling and a few foil balloons, in the colours you ask for, with no set count.

**Pick by what you need.** If you want the count and the pillars in writing, the shop's list gives you that. If a wall of bunches and a foil or two will do, Maruthi's simplest setup covers it. Either way, ask for the number of balloons in writing.

**Who works each way.** Something simple, shaped to your brief: Maruthi Events, from ₹1,500. Something fuller, built from a photo you send: TK Balloon Shades, who sends photos first and builds the one you pick (his rings run ₹3,500 to ₹6,700), and Shubham Parties. Ask both for the price of a room.

## Q5. Is it safe to have balloons and flowers around a newborn?

**Keep latex balloons out of reach of any child under 8 and pick up burst pieces straight away; foil balloons can be a safer choice.** Flowers are your call: if a smell bothers the mother, keep strong-smelling ones out of the room where she and the baby sleep.

- **Burst balloons.** Pick up every piece at once and throw it where children can't reach. The choking risk is in the pieces, and in balloons not yet blown up.
- **Visitors.** Keep them few at first, have everyone wash their hands before they touch the baby, keep anyone unwell away, and no smoking near the baby. Decor brings people to the door, so keep the welcome small if that worries you.
- **Flowers.** Some families skip strong-smelling flowers, or keep them to the main door.

## Q6. Who lets the decorator in while we're at the hospital, and how long does it take?

**Someone has to be home to let the decorator in and stay till they finish, about an hour or two for a room, by two decorators' own times.** Tell your security the day before, and ask whether they mind balloons or tape in the lift lobby.

**How long it takes.** Maruthi Events builds a room in one to two hours and likes to get in three hours before your slot. VSD Creative puts it at about an hour for plain balloons:

One Bengaluru shop rents its set for four hours and then takes its pieces back, so someone has to be home for that too.

**Who should be home.** Anyone who can open the door and stay: a parent, a sibling, a neighbour with the key. They don't have to help. Give the decorator their number, and tell them which room.

**Ask for the hour you need.** If you're coming home early, ask for a slot before dawn: TK Balloon Shades comes then at no extra charge.

**The society.** Put the decorator's name with security the day before. Ask the association whether they mind tape or balloons in the lift, the lobby or the corridor, since buildings differ. Balloons tied to the railings need nothing stuck to the walls:

## Q7. How do I know the decoration will look like the photo?

**Ask for photos of their own recent work, and get the size, the balloon count and the colours in writing.** Send them a picture of what you want, and tell them the size of your wall.

- **Their own work.** Ask for photos of setups they did, in homes like yours. A picture of a big hall shot with a wide lens won't look the same by a flat's door.
- **The count, in writing.** A set list counts its balloons, about 100 for a room at one shop. Two setups can look alike in a photo, so ask for the number.
- **Send a picture.** Agree on one before the day, so you can point to it if something doesn't match while they're still there.
- **Measure the wall.** Tell them the room and the door width when you book.
- **Colours and words.** Pink or blue, and Welcome Baby, It's a Boy or It's a Girl, or the name.

## Q8. What does a welcome baby decorator's price include, and who takes it down?

**The price covers the balloons, letters, lights, setup and travel near their base, but you often pop and throw the balloons yourself afterwards.** Ask for a cloth or paper banner, since flex banners are banned in Karnataka.

**In a rented flat,** ask what they'll stick to the walls and the ceiling, or pick a ring (question 1).

**The banner.** Ask for a cloth or paper one. Karnataka banned plastic and flex banners in 2016, and India banned thermocol for decoration in 2022.

## What Bengaluru families asked us for

Requests to mytribe, in our words.

- **A parent in Gottigere, Bannerghatta Road, May 2026:** A baby boy coming home. Something standard and simple, **from the entrance room to the bedroom**, for ₹3,000 to ₹5,000. They wanted a call to talk it through. (Entrance to bedroom, Their budget: ₹3,000 to ₹5,000)

- **A family in Brookfield, Jun 2026:** A homecoming on Thursday night. **Simple and quick**: a few balloons on the door and the ceiling. (Door and ceiling, Night)

- **A husband in JP Nagar 6th Phase, May 2026:** His wife and baby were coming home for the first time. Another decorator had dropped out at the last minute, so it had to be done **that same evening, by 7 pm**. (Same day, Done by 7 pm)

## Want us to find them?

**A welcome home is usually booked a day ahead, for a date the hospital can still move.** You need someone who can come tomorrow, who'll move the date if the doctor says one more day, and who won't stick tape all over a rented flat.

Every booking comes with an agreement on what's included and what it costs. It's free for you. The decorator pays mytribe a small fee when you book, and you pay them directly, at the same price as going to them yourself. If something isn't going to plan, a person here sorts it out.

## More questions

### Can they do a petal path or fresh flowers at the door?

Ask for it by name, because most balloon decorators here don't do fresh flowers. Flowers wilt, so they go up the morning the baby comes home. A florist's fresh-flower door is about ₹2,500 to ₹4,500, by our estimate.

### Will a decorator come to my area?

Most include travel near their base and charge more, or won't come, further out. TK Balloon Shades includes it within about 15 km of Rayasandra. Each decorator's area is on their card under "The providers in this guide".

### Can they decorate the car for the ride home?

Ask when you book, since not every balloon decorator does cars. Keep the rear window clear, so the driver can see out.

### We haven't fixed the baby's name yet. What goes on the board?

Welcome Baby, or It's a Boy or It's a Girl. Those come as ready-made foil letters or a bunting, so they need no extra notice. A printed name board or name letters take about two days, so it can wait for the naming ceremony.

### Can we keep it up for the naming ceremony?

Keep the foil letters and the bunting: they last. Latex balloons go soft within days, and rented pieces like a ring or a neon sign go back with the decorator. Book fresh balloons for the ceremony.

### Our baby was in the NICU. Is decorating too much?

That's your call. The decorator can finish and leave before you're home, so the decor itself brings no one near the baby, but the visitors who come afterwards do. A charity for premature babies advises few visitors at first, everyone washing their hands before they touch the baby, anyone unwell staying away, and no smoking near her.

### Can they decorate the hospital room?

Ask the hospital before you book what it allows in the room, and at what time. Then tell the decorator it's a hospital, since they'll carry everything up and need to finish quickly.

## Where the numbers come from

**Where the numbers come from**

- **Requests:** 39 Bengaluru welcome-baby requests to mytribe, 9 April to 5 September 2026. These are the requests that reached the point where we sent decorators, so there were more requests than these. How soon they needed it and their budgets come from each family's own WhatsApp messages, never from a card we wrote: 12 wanted it the same day and 11 the next; 11 typed a budget, from ₹2,000 to ₹8,000, with the middle about ₹3,000. Each request card is a family's own messages, put in our words.
- **Decorators:** every price against a decorator's name is that decorator's own: Maruthi Events' ₹1,500 in his words to our team (May 2026), TK Balloon Shades' rings in his own quotes to families (June 2026), VSD Creative's ₹5,000 home setup and ₹6,000 to ₹7,000 beyond about 20 km in his own text to our team (21 August 2026). Their terms, and Shubham Parties', were given to our team in 2026. None is a price our team set.
- **Our sums:** the kit with lights in question 1 is ₹499 plus ₹122. The room range in question 1 runs from one decorator's starting price (Maruthi Events, ₹1,500) to one shop's listed price (Balloon Pro, ₹2,859). The gap in question 2 is that range less ₹620. The florist's door in the short answers is our estimate, built from 3 to 4 kg of marigold, 1 to 2 kg of roses and some jasmine at the city market's rates, thread and a frame, and one florist or two helpers for about three hours; no florist here publishes a welcome-baby price.

- A doctors' body's advice on fresh flowers, pollen or incense near a newborn.
- Whether foil balloons fall under Karnataka's plastic rules.
