# How to run your society's Ganesh utsav in Bengaluru

You're spending other people's money. So we asked ten Bengaluru decorators and caterers what a society's Ganesha really involves, from why one quote is four times another to how much advance to pay, and read the 50 requests societies and groups sent us. Here's what it costs, what needs permission and what to settle before collecting from the flats.

10 decorators and caterers · Idol, permission, music, money · Updated 11 Oct 2026

Prices are what each provider told mytribe or a business published. Where nobody publishes a price, such as for a 3 to 5 ft clay idol, the figure is our estimate, and each sum of several prices is ours. Check every price when you book.

## Q1. What will our society's Ganesha cost, and how much should each flat give?

**A three-day Ganesha's idol, decoration and sound cost about ₹16,000 to ₹33,000 if residents do most of it, ₹20,000 to ₹52,000 with a decorator and hired speakers, and ₹1.7 lakh or more for a built mandap and an evening show. A lunch for everyone is often the biggest bill, and caterers here start at ₹299 to ₹575 a plate.** For a 150-flat society with a decorator, hired speakers and one lunch for 300, that starts at about ₹730 to ₹1,500 a flat if every flat pays, and rises with the menu you pick.

- **Residents do most of it: a small clay idol, market flowers and the society's own speaker:** About ₹16,000 to ₹33,000. Our sum, for three days. An idol up to 2 ft, ₹500 to ₹8,600. Market flowers, cloth and lights, about ₹15,000 to ₹24,000 by our estimate, since fresh flowers need topping up. The speaker and the residents' programme cost nothing. ![An illustration of a small clay Ganesha on a cloth-covered table in a society clubhouse hall, with strings of marigold and chrysanthemum on a plain drape behind, two small brass lamps and a portable speaker on the floor](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/rs:fit:1200:0/f:webp/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/pages/db5bbf92-1dc5-463a-8a8a-85883a99f67e) Picture: Illustration, not a photograph of any society's set-up.
- **A 3 to 4 ft clay idol, a decorator's backdrop and hired speakers:** About ₹20,000 to ₹52,000. Our sum, for three days. The idol about ₹8,000 to ₹15,000, our estimate. A decorator's backdrop, at starting prices from ₹5,000 in artificial flowers, or a fixed package up to about ₹25,000. A hired PA system, ₹7,000 to ₹12,000. ![A dense wall of pink, purple, cream and yellow flowers on a stage frame in a hall, with white drapes and hanging white blossoms at the side](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/rs:fit:1200:0/f:webp/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/194fb7fb-0e5f-4202-8cfc-a188fc8cebb6) Picture: Sky7 Events.
- **A 5 ft clay idol, a mandap built for the festival and an evening show:** About ₹1.7 lakh to ₹2.3 lakh, and up. Our sum. The idol about ₹15,000 to ₹30,000, our estimate. A whole mandap from ₹1 lakh, and over ₹1.5 lakh all in fresh flowers for more than three days (one decorator, October 2024). A bigger sound system, about ₹12,000. An orchestra for up to 300 guests, ₹40,000, an anchor included. ![An illustration of a covered pandal on a society lawn: a wooden mandap under a canopy of fresh marigold, roses and chrysanthemum, a clay Ganesha on a draped platform, two tall brass lamps, speakers on stands and rows of plastic chairs, with apartment towers behind](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/rs:fit:1200:0/f:webp/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/pages/b400861b-06e2-4048-bb22-cd9d111a4355) Picture: Illustration, not a photograph of any decorator's work.

**The decoration makes the biggest difference to the bill.** Between the cheapest set-up and the most expensive, the idol and the speakers add about ₹40,000. The decoration adds over a lakh. A backdrop for the idol and a mandap built for the festival are different jobs, and question 5 has what each costs and what the committees who wrote to us planned to spend on it.

**Food grows with your size, and the rest mostly doesn't.** A 400-flat society may want a bigger stage, but it needs one idol, like a 60-flat one. One Bengaluru caterer starts a festival menu at ₹299 a plate, and another prices a banana-leaf lunch at ₹350 to ₹500. The three on mytribe named below start at ₹350 to ₹575. These are starting prices, so a lunch for 300 starts around ₹90,000, and at the three here from about ₹1.05 lakh to ₹1.7 lakh, before you pick the menu and add their transport. Prasad cooked by residents, or a potluck, costs the committee close to nothing.

- [Video: Authana Caterers at a lunch for 700 under a tent: guests seated at long tables, and their staff serving them at the table. From their own reel.](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/raw:1/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/03393adb-61dc-4c92-a4a9-9175003d896e) Video: Authana Caterers.

**Each extra day adds the speakers and fresh flowers.** The idol and the set-up are paid once. A hired PA system costs ₹4,499 for a day and ₹7,000 for three. Fresh flowers wilt and need topping up, while artificial ones hold. Prasad or a meal every evening multiplies too.

**Per flat, divide by the flats that pay.** In a 150-flat society where every flat pays, a decorator, hired speakers and one lunch for 300 start at about ₹730 to ₹1,500 a flat, and more once the menu is chosen. Without the lunch, it's about ₹130 to ₹350. If the contribution is voluntary, plan on the flats you expect to pay.

The sums leave out the priest, the permit and power fees, transport to the tank, anything for security, and a roof or tent if Ganesha sits on an open lawn, since nobody here publishes those, so keep some money aside. One orchestra charges ₹20,000 for two and a half hours and up to 50 guests, and ₹40,000 for four hours and up to 300, an anchor included. An anchor on their own is ₹20,000. Our guide to [hiring an emcee or anchor](https://mytribe.in/guides/emcees-and-anchors-in-bengaluru) has more. The children's and residents' items cost nothing.

**Behind this answer:** [Shubham Parties](https://mytribe.in/___shubham___parties___) and [Sky7 Events](https://mytribe.in/sky_7_events) artificial-flower work from ₹5,000; [Dream Decor](https://mytribe.in/dream_decor_bengaluru) fixed Ganesha packages ₹14,999 to ₹24,999 (September 2025), transport extra; [Vaatika Events](https://mytribe.in/vaatika__events) a whole mandap from ₹1,00,000, above ₹1,50,000 all fresh for more than three days (told us in October 2024); [BookMyPartyFood](https://mytribe.in/bookmypartyfood) from about ₹350 a plate for 30 guests, [Smart Chef Catering](https://mytribe.in/smartchefcatering) from about ₹550 a head for 50, [Authana Caterers](https://mytribe.in/authanacaterers) from ₹575 a plate for 100. Market prices: a Bengaluru sound-hire firm's and an orchestra's published rates, two caterers' published per-plate prices, and festival-week flower prices from ETV Bharat, 13 September 2026.

## Q2. How do we collect the money from the flats, and show them where it went?

**Treat it as a request: we found no Karnataka rule that lets an association add a festival to the maintenance bill.** Agree the plan and the amount per flat at a general body meeting, collect into one account, and share every bill after visarjan.

**Decide it together, before anyone pays.** Put the plan to a general body meeting: the days, the idol, the decoration, the food and the amount per flat. Minute it. An objection is easier to settle in that room than on the WhatsApp group, and the minutes answer anyone who asks later.

**Ask the same from each flat, and say it's voluntary.** Say in the circular whether you're asking the owner or the tenant. Say up front what happens to money left over: next year's Ganesha, or the society's next festival.

**One account, and a receipt for everything.** Collect by UPI or bank transfer into the association's account, so every payment has a record. Cash goes in a receipt book with the flat number. One person on the committee keeps every bill, including the idol maker's and the flower seller's.

**Share one sheet after visarjan.** Every bill, every payment and what's left, sent to every flat. Doing it before anyone asks saves the committee the question.

## Q3. Do we need police permission for a Ganesha inside our apartment complex?

**Inside your compound with no loudspeaker, we found no rule that needs police permission, so get your association's yes in writing. A loudspeaker, a procession to the tank or a pandal on the road needs permission, from one of the city's single-window centres.**

**Do you need permission for your plan?**

- **Inside the complex, no loudspeaker:** **We found no rule that needs police permission for this.** The police rules are written for public pandals. Get your association's yes in writing, with where Ganesha sits and for how many days. Who says so: Your association. How firm: No police rule either way that we could find.
- **Inside the complex, with a loudspeaker:** **Yes, for the loudspeaker.** The Noise Rules need written permission for any loudspeaker, wherever it plays, and the city charges a fee for it. Apply at a single-window centre. Who says so: The Noise Pollution Rules 2000, and the city's 2026 rules. How firm: A national rule.
- **A procession to the tank:** **Yes, from the police.** Give them the date, time and route of the procession in advance. They can change the route, and nobody in the procession may drink. Who says so: Bengaluru police, 2026. How firm: A police order.
- **A pandal on the road or outside the gate:** **Yes, from the city, the police, the fire service and BESCOM, all through one single-window centre.** In 2026, permission was promised within 24 hours if the conditions were met. Who says so: The Greater Bengaluru Authority and Bengaluru police, 2026. How firm: A city order.

From the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules 2000, and the 2026 police and city rules as Asianet Newsable and Oneindia reported them. Links are in Sources.

[Ask us about your society's plan (WhatsApp +91 63600 04054)](https://wa.me/916360004054?text=Hi!%20We're%20planning%20our%20apartment%20society's%20Ganesh%20utsav%20in%20Bengaluru%20and%20have%20a%20question%20about%20what%20needs%20permission.%0AYour%20plan%3A%20)

**What the police ask for.** In 2026 they wanted these before a pandal went up, and they hold the committee fully responsible for anything that happens:

- A list of the volunteers
- The idol's height
- Details of the pandal, the sound system and any banners
- How many days the celebration runs
- The date, time and route of the immersion procession

**Have those ready before the centres open.** In 2026 the city announced them on 1 September, 13 days before the festival, and we couldn't find the day they opened. Expect the announcement in the second half of August in 2027. There were 122 across the five city corporations, so there's one near you, and your ward office can tell you which.

**Sponsor names go on cloth.** Karnataka has banned plastic banners, buntings, flex and flags since 2016, inside a compound as much as on the road, along with plastic plates and cups.

A Ganesha that stays after the festival is a different matter. In April 2026, residents of a Begur complex went to court over a shrine built in a common area, saying it had no approval from the city, and the court ordered everything kept as it was until the next hearing.

## Q4. How big a clay Ganesha is allowed, what does it cost, and where do we immerse it?

**Clay only, and 5 ft at most: PoP, thermocol and chemical paints are banned, and the state pollution board limits idols to 5 ft (last restated in 2022, the latest we found). A 3 to 4 ft clay Ganesha costs about ₹8,000 to ₹15,000 and a 5 ft one up to about ₹30,000, by our estimate.** Traders also rent bigger fibre idols, but we found nothing on whether the 5 ft limit covers them, so ask when you apply. None of the decorators here sells idols.

| Size | What it costs | After the festival |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 2 ft | ₹500 for a small one, up to ₹8,600 for 2 ft | Dissolves at home in a bucket or drum of water |
| 3 to 4 ft | About ₹8,000 to ₹15,000, our estimate | A city immersion point. In 2026 there were 659 mobile tanks, ward by ward, and 42 lakes and temporary tanks |
| 5 ft | About ₹15,000 to ₹30,000, our estimate | An immersion point the city sets out for bigger idols. Ask at the single-window centre which one takes yours |
| A bigger look | A rented fibre idol, ₹3,000 to ₹30,000 a day. Ask at the single-window centre whether the 5 ft limit covers it | Goes back to the trader. A small clay idol that comes with it takes the pooja and goes into the water |

Up to 2 ft: ETV Bharat (13 September 2026) and one Bengaluru maker's price list. 3 to 5 ft: our estimate, from potters' 2017 prices and the 15 to 20% rise News Karnataka reported in 2025. The rental: Newsfirst and Eesanje, September 2026. Immersion: the city's 2026 figures, as ThePrint and Oneindia reported them.

**Where to buy.** The idol is the one thing the committee buys itself. Small clay idols, ₹500 to ₹5,000, sell in festival week in markets such as KR Market, Malleswaram, Basavanagudi, Gandhi Bazaar and Yeshwanthpur, and apartment associations are among the buyers. For 3 to 5 ft, go to the potters, such as those in Pottery Town near Frazer Town, and get the price for your size in writing. Makers of fine-finish clay idols in Maharashtra styles cost more for the size: one in Bengaluru lists 1 ft at ₹2,500 and 2 ft at ₹8,600, and lists nothing taller than 2 ft 6 in.

**Order early.** The clay is dug from dried lake beds around Bengaluru and Ramanagara. After heavy rain since 2024, makers struggled to find it in 2025, and idol prices were expected to rise 15 to 20%. Order the idol when you book the decorator.

**Expect softer colours.** Chemical paints are banned too, so a clay idol you're allowed to install looks softer than the glossy ones in Mumbai videos. Show the committee a photo of the maker's finished work before you order.

**Keep it dry.** Unbaked clay is made to dissolve in water, so it travels covered and sits under a roof. On an open lawn, rain can mark it.

**For a bigger look, some rent.** Traders near Lalbagh rent finished fibre idols, at ₹3,000 to ₹30,000 a day by one report and about ₹30,000 a day for the big ones by another, which also says hires run one, three or five days against an advance. A small clay idol comes with it for the pooja and the immersion. We found nothing on whether the 5 ft limit applies to a rented fibre idol, so ask at the single-window centre before you book one.

**Plan the lifting.** The pollution board set the 5 ft limit with weight and transport in mind. You give the police the idol's height when you apply, and the city picks immersion points for the bigger idols, so ask there which tank takes yours and have enough hands to carry it.

## Q5. Why is one decorator's quote four times another's?

**Usually they aren't quoting the same thing. A backdrop for the idol starts at ₹5,000 to ₹20,000, depending on the decorator and the flowers, and fixed packages run to about ₹25,000. A mandap kept up for the whole festival starts around ₹1 lakh, and passes ₹1.5 lakh in fresh flowers for more than three days (one decorator, October 2024).** Send each the same brief, with your size, and compare what each covers.

**What 20 committees who wrote to us planned for decoration, 2026**

- Up to ₹10,000: 2
- Over ₹10,000 to ₹25,000: 13
- Over ₹25,000 to ₹1 lakh: 5
- Over ₹1 lakh: None

20 of the 50 Bengaluru societies and groups who wrote to mytribe about decorating their Ganesha in 2026 named a budget in their own messages. Each counts once, at the most it said it would spend.

**Three in four who wrote to us planned ₹25,000 or less.** That buys a backdrop or a fixed package, and none planned the lakh a whole mandap starts at. The prices below are each decorator's own. Where it says from, the price rises with the size, the flowers and the design.

- **A backdrop for the idol in artificial flowers:** From ₹5,000. Shubham Parties and Sky7 Events. ![An illustration of a plain cream drape on a stand in a clubhouse hall, with a few strings of artificial orange and yellow flowers along its top and down its sides](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/rs:fit:1200:0/f:webp/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/pages/d75ca944-3420-4d0a-9f08-991e3e2e9291) Picture: Illustration.
- **A backdrop in artificial or real flowers:** From ₹10,000 artificial, ₹20,000 real. - **A fixed Ganesha backdrop or mandap:** ₹14,999 to ₹24,999. Dream Decor's menu of twelve, September 2025, transport extra. ![A small Ganesha on a gold and red wooden stool under an arch of white baby's breath and white roses on an artificial-grass panel, with brass lamps, a coconut, fruit and offerings on a white-draped table](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/rs:fit:1200:0/f:webp/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/6afdd9f0-199e-40a3-b8b0-335fc0967cc2) Picture: Dream Decor.
- **A Ganesh backdrop from a decor company that serves apartments:** From ₹15,000. - **Floral and festive decoration:** From about ₹40,000. MM Events, who also do sound and LED screens. Ask what those add. ![An illustration of a low stage in a clubhouse hall with a wide backdrop of fresh marigold, roses and chrysanthemum on drapes, garlands down both sides and flowers in brass urns at the front corners](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/rs:fit:1200:0/f:webp/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/pages/94267504-ad21-4892-97bd-7d7b64d89fa6) Picture: Illustration.
- **An 8 by 8 ft wooden mandap with fresh flowers:** ₹50,000 for one day. Shubham Parties, no idol platform. Ask what more days cost. ![An illustration of an empty 8 by 8 ft wooden mandap with four carved pillars in a clubhouse hall, with marigold and rose garlands wound round the pillars and hung from the top frame](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/rs:fit:1200:0/f:webp/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/pages/9ffc8318-c801-4fad-bd1a-e9b6a3f762f6) Picture: Illustration.
- **A whole mandap, kept up 3 to 7 days:** From ₹1,00,000. Vaatika Events, told us in October 2024. Above ₹1,50,000 all in fresh flowers for more than 3 days. ![An illustration of a large mandap on the podium of an apartment complex, covered in marigold, chrysanthemum and roses, with four pillars, a domed canopy and an empty flower-decorated platform for the idol](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/rs:fit:1200:0/f:webp/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/pages/a75d2425-7867-4765-9d9d-32126d22d979) Picture: Illustration.

The pictures are illustrations of what each step's money buys, except Dream Decor's, which is a photo from its own gallery and not one of those packages.

**Check four things in each quote.** Is it a backdrop, or a mandap with a roof? How many days do the fresh flowers have to last? What's in it: transport (question 6 compares it), the table for the idol, the lamps, setting up and taking down, clearing the flowers? And who pays the clubhouse? Shubham Parties hires a table for the idol at ₹1,000 a table plus transport, leaves fresh flowers for you to clear, and says clubhouse entry fees, a decorator NOC and deposits are yours to pay. Dream Party Link's lamps and brass pots start at ₹600 to ₹700 each.

**Send your size.** No decorator here gives a size with a starting price. Shubham Parties calls his ₹5,000 artificial backdrop very minimal and simple. Give each decorator your width and height, as the societies below did (10 by 10 ft, 24 ft wide), and ask for a price for that.

**Real flowers start at double.** That's at one decorator, for a Ganesha backdrop.

**Artificial flowers, From ₹10,000**
- The backdrop alone. Decorating the idol and the props cost extra
- Looks the same on the fifth day as on the first
- No flowers to buy in festival week

**Real flowers, From ₹20,000**
- The backdrop alone. Decorating the idol and the props cost extra
- The look and the scent of real flowers at the pooja
- Bought close to the day, when flowers cost the most, so an early quote may change

Dream Party Link's own starting prices, given to mytribe. They are where each starts, not one design priced both ways, so ask him to price yours both ways.

For a Ganesha kept five days, artificial holds up better, and Sky7 Events often mixes the two to keep within a budget.

**The same decorator, a different look.** Dream Decor's fixed menu (September 2025) runs from ₹14,999 for a dense red-rose canopy with hanging gold bells to ₹24,999 for a white lattice temple arch with an orange inner panel, rose framing and a chandelier. The extra ₹10,000 buys a bigger frame with more to build.

## Q6. When should we book the idol and the decorator, and do we get the advance back if we cancel?

**Book the idol and the decorator by July, for a festival likely on Saturday 4 September 2027, and file for permission as soon as the single-window centres open. In 2026 the city announced them 13 days before the festival.** Four of the five decorators below take half or more as an advance, and three of the five say it isn't refunded, so pay once the flats' money is in.

- **June 2027:** Agree the plan and the amount per flat at a general body meeting, then collect into one account.
- **By July:** Order the idol and book the decorator, paying the advance from what you've collected. Clay ran short after heavy rain in 2025, and every society wants the same few days.
- **Mid-August:** Get the police's list ready: the volunteers, the idol's height, the days, the immersion route.
- **When the centres open:** File at a single-window centre. In 2026 the city announced them 13 days before the festival.
- **The week before:** Hand out the night shifts, set out the fire extinguishers and settle the power.
- **Saturday 4 September 2027:** Ganesh Chaturthi, the likely date.
- **After visarjan:** Send every flat the accounts.

| Decorator | Advance | If you cancel | Moving the date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dream Decor | 50% | Not refunded | ₹2,000 |
| Shubham Parties | 50 to 75% | Not refunded | His call, if he's free |
| Mahinava Events | 30% | Not refunded | Advance carries over if she's free. If not, half of it comes back |
| Dream Party Link | 50% | Refunded if he hasn't bought the materials yet | Free |
| MM Events | 50%. The rest when the work is done | Ask | Ask |

Each decorator's own terms, given to mytribe.

| Caterer | Advance | If you cancel |
|---|---|---|
| Authana Caterers | 25% | Not refunded. They keep everything paid |
| Smart Chef Catering | 50%. The rest on the day | Half of what you paid comes back a week or more out. Nothing inside a week |
| BookMyPartyFood | Up to 50% | Not refunded |

Each caterer's own terms, given to mytribe. For moving the date, ask them.

Authana Caterers' owner says a late change of date can cost the advance too, because the staff are already booked for your date:

> "all the manpower, everything we take it for that date, so we have to pay them"
>
> [Authana Caterers](https://mytribe.in/authanacaterers), its owner, on a call with mytribe, 9 October 2026.

**Ask what transport adds.** Sky7 Events charges the same anywhere in Bengaluru. Dream Party Link is free within 20 km of Wilson Garden and ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 beyond. Dream Decor puts transport on every quote as its own line, ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 in the city and ₹3,000 to ₹4,000 to the outskirts. Mahinava Events is free within 10 to 15 km of Whitefield. Shubham Parties goes anywhere for a job of ₹20,000 or more, with extra beyond about 30 km. Of the caterers, Authana charges ₹10,000 in the city and BookMyPartyFood ₹2,500, and Smart Chef adds it to the bill.

**Ask what kind of flower quote you have.** Dream Decor says its quote already allows for festival-week flower prices, so one given early holds. Dream Party Link says his follows the market, so an early one may change. Mahinava Events charges more for flowers in festival week.

Pay by UPI and keep the WhatsApp thread, so the committee has a record of what you paid and what was promised. If you book through us, the booking comes with an agreement on what's included and what it costs, and if something isn't going to plan, a person here sorts it out.

## Q7. Can we play music at our society's Ganesha, and till what time?

**The police ban a DJ, at the pandal and in the procession, and allow sound systems within the noise limits, so bhajans or a playlist on hired speakers are fine. Outdoors, your lawn included, speakers and instruments stop at 10 pm unless your permit allows later, and a closed clubhouse hall can go on if the sound stays inside.** We found no police word on an orchestra or a drum group, so ask when you apply.

**Till what time can the music go on?**

- **An open lawn, podium or courtyard:** **Until 10 pm.** The Noise Rules stop loudspeakers and musical instruments from 10 pm to 6 am outdoors. The state may allow up to midnight on a festival day, so check the hours on your permit. Who says so: The Noise Pollution Rules 2000, and Bengaluru police. How firm: A national rule.
- **The clubhouse hall, doors shut:** **Later is allowed, if the sound stays inside.** The rules make an exception for closed premises such as community halls. Move the late programme in there. Who says so: The Noise Pollution Rules 2000. How firm: A national rule, for closed halls.
- **The procession to the tank:** **No DJ. Ask about drums when you file the route.** Police barred DJs at immersion processions in 2026, and the High Court upheld their 2025 order. The Noise Rules count drums as a musical instrument, so 10 pm applies to them too, unless your permit says later. Who says so: Bengaluru police and the Karnataka High Court. How firm: A police order, upheld in court.

From the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules 2000, rule 5; Bengaluru police's 2024 and 2026 rules; and the Karnataka High Court's order of 23 August 2025, as LiveLaw reported it. Links are in Sources.

[Ask us about music for your Ganesha (WhatsApp +91 63600 04054)](https://wa.me/916360004054?text=Hi!%20We're%20planning%20our%20apartment%20society's%20Ganesh%20utsav%20in%20Bengaluru%20and%20have%20a%20question%20about%20music%20and%20sound.%0AWhere%20it%20plays%3A%20)

Police said in 2026 that only sound systems within the legal noise limits are allowed at pandals, and a DJ isn't. Bhajans or a playlist through hired speakers is a loudspeaker: it needs the permit, and outdoors it stops at 10 pm. In 2024 the police set 6 am to 10 pm, and we couldn't find 2026's hours.

A hired PA system costs ₹3,499 for 12 hours, ₹4,499 for a day or ₹7,000 for three days, and the firm offers delivery and set-up. A bigger system is ₹9,990 to ₹12,000 for three days.

We found no published price for a dhol or chende group, and no police word on them, so ask when you file the route, then agree the hours and the fee in writing, inside the hours on your permit.

The police rule of no alcohol in the procession is one you can quote to anyone who wants to drink on visarjan night.

## Q8. What if it rains, there's a power cut or someone gets hurt at our Ganesh pandal?

**The police hold the committee fully responsible, so work from their own list: two people at the pandal day and night, CCTV, fire extinguishers, emergency numbers on display and nothing that burns near the idol.** Put the idol under a roof, settle where the power and the backup come from, and ask each decorator what happens if wind or rain brings the set-up down.

**Ganesha comes in the wettest weeks: about 10 rainy days a month in August and September.** Storms build after 3 pm and peak around 7 to 8 pm, in an IMD Bengaluru study of thunderstorms at the airport from 2011 to 2023. Storms are most common in April, May, September and October, and Ganesha often falls in September, so keep the evening aarti and programmes under a roof or a canopy.

**Days a month with rain in Bengaluru, on average**

- March: 1 day
- April: 4 days
- May: 8 days
- June: 7 days
- July: 8 days
- August: 10 days
- September: 10 days
- October: 10 days
- November: 4 days

Days with 2.5 mm of rain or more, averaged over 1991 to 2020, at IMD's Bengaluru city observatory. December to February have under two between them.

**The list is the police's own, from 2024.** Their 2026 rules repeat that the committee is fully responsible:

- Two responsible people at the pandal at all times, day and night
- CCTV
- Fire extinguishers
- Emergency numbers on display
- No wood, kerosene or stoves near the idol
- Volunteers in badges or caps
- Nothing that blocks traffic

**Rain.** An idol on an open lawn needs a roof over it, since unbaked clay softens in water. Shubham Parties says there's no redo and no refund if wind brings an outdoor set-up down. Ask your decorator the same before you pay.

**Power.** Settle where it comes from before the decorator plugs in: the society's common supply, with the facility manager's yes, or a BESCOM temporary connection, applied for at the same single-window centre. We found no published fee for it. Ask the facility manager whether the pandal can run on the society's backup generator in a power cut.

**The night.** Silver on the idol and a hundi need someone with them. Count on two people of your own in shifts, since the building's guard has the gate to watch.

**If someone gets hurt.** Keep a first-aid box at the pandal and 112, the emergency number, on the board with the nearest hospital's.

## Before Ganesha arrives, settle these six

1. The plan and the amount per flat agreed and minuted, and one account for the money
2. Permission filed: volunteers, idol height, days, route
3. A clay idol of 5 ft or less, ordered early
4. The decorator's quote: backdrop or mandap, days, transport, take-down
5. No DJ, and speakers off at 10 pm outdoors
6. Two people on watch, extinguishers, and power with a backup

## What Bengaluru societies asked us for

Requests to mytribe, in our words.

- **A society in Yemalur, Aug 2026:** **A backdrop on one side only**, where Ganapati sits, in a semi-covered gazebo area, with a table or stool for the murti. Artificial flowers are fine, and we'll bring the murti. No pandal. Set up on the night before, taken away after visarjan. (Backdrop only, Artificial flowers, Budget ₹5,000 to ₹7,000 at first, ₹10,000 to ₹12,000 in the end)

- **A group of neighbours in Haralur, Sep 2026:** 10 to 15 of us organise a Ganesha pooja in our area every year, on the ground floor of a building, for three days. This time we'd like **a professional decorator**, for a backdrop about 10 by 10 feet in a semi-open area, materials included. (Three days, 10 by 10 ft backdrop, Budget about ₹10,000)

- **A society in Whitefield, Aug 2026:** Ganpati decor in the society clubhouse for two days: a backdrop **24 feet wide** and 8 to 10 feet high, a stage photo spot and the entrance, in fresh flowers, with a royal, elegant finish. About 500 people coming and going, ready by 5 am. (Clubhouse, 24 ft backdrop, Budget about ₹75,000)

## Want us to find one?

**A society's Ganesha means several bookings in a few weeks, made with the neighbours' money.** The idol, the decorator, the speakers, the food and the permit land on a few volunteers, and festival week is when every decorator and caterer is busiest.

**Tell us once, for the decoration and the food.** We come back with decorators and caterers who fit your society's brief, each priced for it, with their own past work. We already know them: we've checked their real work and their prices, and called their past clients, including about what went wrong. Only about 1 in 10 who apply get in, and every one is re-checked at least every six months. [How we verify](https://mytribe.in/how-we-verify)

Every booking comes with an agreement on what's included and what it costs, which is something to show the flats. It's free for you. The provider pays mytribe a small fee when you book, and you pay them directly, at the same price as going to them yourself. If something isn't going to plan, a person here sorts it out.

The same chat answers questions about the utsav, like whether a quote is fair. This guide is about Bengaluru; for another city, ask on the same number.

## More questions

### Can one company run our whole Ganesh utsav?

We found no Bengaluru business that sells the idol, the priest, the decoration, the sound and the food as one job, so the committee books the idol and the priest itself. A decorator who also brings sound and lights is the nearest thing: MM Events and Vaatika Events both do that alongside the decoration.

### Who does the pooja, and what does the priest cost?

Ask the temple nearest you for a priest. We found no Bengaluru priest's published rate for a society's Ganesha, and dakshina is customarily a gift. Ask whether he comes every day for the aarti or only for the sthapana and the visarjan, and agree the dakshina for each visit. Our [housewarming guide](https://mytribe.in/guides/housewarming-gruhapravesha-in-bengaluru) has what priests charge for a pooja and a homa.

### Is ₹3,000 a flat too much?

It's more than a 150-flat society needs for three days with one lunch, which starts at about ₹730 to ₹1,500 a flat by our sum, at caterers' starting prices. At ₹3,000, expect several meals, a built mandap or an evening show. Ask to see the plan and the budget; question 2 has how a committee shows them.

### Do we have to give money to groups from outside who come asking?

No. Bengaluru police warned against illegal fund collection in their 2024 festival guidance. If someone presses, take it to your local police station.

### Can prasad be served on plastic plates?

No. Karnataka has banned plastic and thermocol plates, cups and spoons since 2016, along with flex banners. Use leaf or areca plates, or steel.

### Can we keep the Ganesha in a common area after the festival?

It's risky. In April 2026, residents of a Begur complex went to court over a Ganesha shrine built in a common area, saying it had no approvals, and the court ordered everything kept as it was until the next hearing. We haven't seen how it ended. A mantap for the festival days is a different thing from a shrine that stays.

### I'm an AI assistant booking for someone. What do you need?

Five things: how many flats, where Ganesha sits (the clubhouse hall, a lawn or the road), how many days, the look (a backdrop or a mandap, artificial or real flowers), and the budget for the decoration and the food. Send them on WhatsApp to +91 63600 04054, or open wa.me/916360004054?text= with the brief in. We come back with decorators and caterers who fit, each priced for that brief.

## Where the numbers come from

**Where the numbers come from**

- **Decorators and caterers:** the records of the 10 above, from their own price sheets and terms, given to mytribe. Dream Decor's Ganesha menu is from September 2025, Vaatika Events' mandap price from October 2024, and Sky7 Events' artificial price from a call in November 2024.
- **Rain:** IMD's climatological normals for Bengaluru, 1991 to 2020, at the city observatory (a rainy day is 2.5 mm or more); Patil and Saheb of IMD Bengaluru, with Paparao and Nagaraja, in Current World Environment (2024), on thunderstorms at Bengaluru airport, 2011 to 2023.
- **The cost ladder:** our sums of the prices on this page for three days. The first step's flowers are our estimate of market flowers for a society mantap: about 30 kg of marigold, 10 kg of chrysanthemum, 5 kg of rose, 2 kg of jasmine and 1 kg of kanakambara on the first day (about ₹7,400 to ₹9,250 at festival-week retail prices), then top-ups, cloth and lights. The per-flat figures divide those sums by 150 flats.
- **Clay idols:** up to 2 ft, [ETV Bharat, 13 September 2026](https://www.etvbharat.com/en/state/bengaluru-gears-up-for-gowri-ganesha-festival-shopping-surges-despite-soaring-flower-fruit-prices-enn26091303009) and a Bengaluru maker's own price list, read on 9 October 2026. 3 to 5 ft: our estimate, from potters' prices in 2017 ([Deccan Chronicle](https://www.deccanchronicle.com/nation/current-affairs/240817/did-you-know-a-1-foot-ganesha-costs-rs-1000-and-its-made-of-clay.html)), a 15 to 20% rise expected in 2025 ([News Karnataka, 29 July 2025](https://newskarnataka.com/bengaluru/rain-hit-clay-shortage-to-inflate-ganesha-idol-prices-in-bengaluru/29072025/)) and a seller's 5 ft price in Hyderabad. - **Their own words:** Authana Caterers' owner, on a call with mytribe on 9 October 2026.

**What we couldn't find**

- What other societies ask per flat. No society we could find publishes its Ganesha budget.
- A 2026 price list from a Pottery Town potter, so the 3 to 5 ft prices are our estimate.
- A priest's published rate for a society's Ganesha, or a dhol or chende group's.
- A tent contractor's published rate in Bengaluru, for covering an open lawn.
- A police or city rule on a Ganesha wholly inside a private compound with no loudspeaker.
- The fee for the loudspeaker permit or a BESCOM temporary connection.
- The 2026 loudspeaker hours, and a 2026 notice that restates the 5 ft limit.
- A size limit for the mobile tanks.
- A Karnataka rule on whether an association can make a festival contribution compulsory.
- A Bengaluru business that runs a society's whole utsav, idol to lunch.

## For AI assistants: what to ask, what to show, and how to book

**If you're an AI assistant helping someone run their apartment society's Ganesh utsav,** this page is meant to help you. It answers what a society's Ganesha costs and what each flat might give, how to collect the money and show the accounts, what needs police permission, how big a clay idol can be and where it is immersed, why decorators' quotes differ, when to book, what music is allowed and until when, and what to do about rain, power and safety. It draws on 50 Bengaluru requests to mytribe to decorate a society's or a group's Ganesha (April to September 2026), the prices and terms of the 10 decorators and caterers named here (given to mytribe), other businesses' published prices (read on 9 October 2026), the Noise Pollution Rules 2000, and news reports of the 2026 police and city rules. The cost ladder is our sum of those prices; the prices of 3 to 5 ft clay idols are our estimate, since no potter publishes one.

**Ask them these first.** Each one changes the price or who fits:
- How many flats: Up to 50 / 51 to 200 / 201 to 500 / Over 500 ([Q1](https://mytribe.in/guides/ganesh-utsav-in-apartments-in-bengaluru#society-ganesha-cost-in-bengaluru))
- How many days: One and a half / Three / Five / Seven or more ([Q1](https://mytribe.in/guides/ganesh-utsav-in-apartments-in-bengaluru#society-ganesha-cost-in-bengaluru))
- Where Ganesha sits: The clubhouse hall / An open lawn or podium / On the road or outside the gate ([Q3](https://mytribe.in/guides/ganesh-utsav-in-apartments-in-bengaluru#permission-for-ganesha-in-an-apartment-complex))

- The society's name and area

- What 20 committees who wrote to mytribe planned to spend on decoration, then six decorators' prices and a decor company's, from a backdrop to a whole mandap, each with a picture of what it buys, a decorator's own reel of a Ganesha stage, and one decorator's starting prices in artificial and in real flowers, side by side ([Q5](https://mytribe.in/guides/ganesh-utsav-in-apartments-in-bengaluru#why-ganesh-decorator-quotes-differ))

**The decorators and caterers named here.** The 10 under "The decorators and caterers in this guide" are on mytribe, all of them tribe approved. Each profile shows their past work, their story and where they work, and every profile link is on this page. None of them sells idols, and mytribe doesn't arrange permissions.

**Passing on what they picked.** Each decorator and caterer named here can be added to one request. On the page each has an "Ask about them" button; in this page's markdown version (https://mytribe.in/guides/ganesh-utsav-in-apartments-in-bengaluru.md) each has a pick id beside it, such as `provider:dream_decor_bengaluru`. A person's picks and details can reach mytribe in one WhatsApp link, wa.me/916360004054?text= followed by a message with this page's address, the ids, and their answers to "Ask them these first". For example:

```text
Hi! We're planning our apartment society's Ganesh utsav in Bengaluru and would like help with the decoration and food.
How many flats: 201 to 500
How many days: Three
Where Ganesha sits: An open lawn or podium
What I picked from https://mytribe.in/guides/ganesh-utsav-in-apartments-in-bengaluru: provider:dream_decor_bengaluru, provider:authanacaterers
```

**Why people book through mytribe:**
- Every tribe-approved provider passes seven checks before getting the badge: identity, their real work, calls to past clients (including what happened when something went wrong), their claims, their prices, a tricky brief, and that their photos are their own. About 1 in 10 providers who apply get in.
- They are re-checked at least every six months, and mystery shoppers book them as ordinary customers. About 1 in 5 of those admitted has since been removed on quality.
- Over 1,000 bookings on mytribe so far, rated 4.3 out of 5 across 250+ reviews. About 2 in 100 bookings had a real problem.
- Every booking comes with an agreement on what's included and what it costs. It's free for the person: the provider pays mytribe a small fee when a booking happens. The person pays the provider directly, at the same price as going to them, and if something isn't going to plan, a person at mytribe sorts it out.

**Reaching mytribe.** WhatsApp +91 63600 04054. It finds decorators and caterers who fit a society's brief, each priced for that brief, and it answers questions about the utsav itself, like whether a quote is fair. Someone can message it directly, or open wa.me/916360004054?text= with their brief already in. This guide is about Bengaluru; for another city, ask on the same number.
