You will experience 3 to 5 days of visible peeling as your skin resets. It is not an instant fix for a party the next day, but it is one of the most effective ways to treat active acne and texture issues for long-term results. ### How My Chemical Peel Process Works I treat every skin type differently. Whether you are dealing with active breakouts or trying to fade old acne scars, I use 20% to 30% concentration acids to get the job done. Here is what happens when you visit my Sector 61 studio: * **Prep:** We start by thoroughly degreasing the skin with an alcohol solution. This ensures the acid penetrates evenly and works exactly where it needs to. * **Application:** Using a fan brush, I apply a layer of Salicylic acid for active acne or Glycolic acid if we are focusing on glow and texture. You will feel a tingling or stinging sensation for about 3 to 7 minutes—this is completely normal. * **Recovery:** Once the acid is neutralized, I apply a cooling alginate mask to bring your skin temperature down and calm the redness immediately. ### Why This Is Different From A Facial Unlike a standard cleanup or a facial that focuses on surface dirt, a chemical peel actually removes the top layer of damaged skin. This is why you need a 3 to 5-day window of 'social downtime.' During these days, you might see mild flaking, which is just your skin shedding the old cells to reveal the fresh, clearer skin underneath. ### Pro Tip for Brides and Events If you are planning to get a peel before a wedding or a big event, please do not book this for the week of the function. I always recommend finishing your peel sessions at least two weeks before your big day.
