We combine structural health assessments with contemporary necessities like concealed electrical conduits, updated plumbing, and modern waterproofing. This ensures the original character remains intact while the space works for your daily life today. Our work in heritage architecture goes beyond mere aesthetics. It starts with a deep respect for the structural history of a building. Whether it is documenting the traditional Guthu houses of Tulunadu or restoring a historic resort, we approach every project as a piece of history that needs to live on. ### How We Approach Heritage Restoration * **Structural Health Assessment:** Before moving a single stone, we assess the integrity of load-bearing walls and timber. We replace damaged beams with seasoned reclaimed wood to maintain the original lineage. * **Traditional Finishes:** We prioritize authentic materials like red and black oxide flooring, Athangudi tiles, and lime plastering. These aren't just finishes; they are part of the building's soul. * **Modern Utility Integration:** You shouldn't have to sacrifice comfort for heritage. We excel at retrofitting modern luxury—such as modular kitchens, concealed lighting, and high-end sanitaryware—into old structures without ruining their authentic look. * **Research & Documentation:** Our commitment to culture is reflected in our published research, including our book on the ancestral homes of Tulunadu. This knowledge informs our design decisions, ensuring that every restoration project honors the cultural context of the region. From boutique resorts to ancestral villas, our process creates a bridge between your family's history and the way you want to live now. ## About Gayathri & Namith Architects We are Gayathri and Namith.
