If your additives are not resin-compatible, your piece might never cure properly, leaving you with a sticky, unusable mess. I always test a tiny batch first to ensure the colors react well before attempting a full pour. Resin art is as much about chemistry as it is about creativity. When I share videos of myself mixing unexpected ingredients, it is not just for the aesthetic—it is because I am constantly testing boundaries. Most people only see the final glossy product, but the path to get there is full of 'what-ifs.' **Why experimentation matters** If you stick only to standard pigments, your work will eventually look like everyone else's. I use this cluster to document what happens when I try to incorporate non-traditional materials like metal scraps, botanical elements, or even unusual makeup pigments. It is the only way to find your unique signature style. **The technical side of trying new things** The biggest danger when experimenting is affecting the curing process. Resin is a delicate chemical mix. Adding too much alcohol, oil-based products, or water can result in bubbles, soft spots, or a piece that never fully hardens. My tip for beginners: start with small 50ml test batches.
