Whether using grit plaster finishes or precision-aligned stone cladding, we ensure the structural shell facilitates natural ventilation and daylight penetration, effectively reducing the need for artificial cooling. ### Our Approach to Minimalist Architecture True minimalism in an Indian context requires a careful balance. It is not simply about reducing elements; it is about refining them until only the essential structure remains. We approach contemporary design by stripping away unnecessary ornamentation to focus on volumes, proportions, and the raw performance of materials. ### Material Selection and Structural Integrity In our contemporary projects, such as the Sen Residence, we utilize grit plaster and stone to provide texture that changes as the day progresses. This creates a dynamic facade that responds to the sun without needing complex decoration. We integrate these finishes with reinforced concrete and metal screening to ensure durability, especially given Bengaluru's climate. ### Site-Responsive Design Every minimalist home we design is rooted in its specific site constraints. For corner plots, this often means creating sculptural walls that provide privacy while maintaining an open feel. We prioritize: * **Passive Cooling:** Integrating light wells and double-height volumes to regulate temperature. * **Material Honesty:** Using grit plaster, glass, and metal in their natural states. * **Spatial Flow:** Designing layouts where indoor and outdoor spaces connect seamlessly through large fenestrations. By treating the building envelope as a functional element rather than just a boundary, we create modern homes that are efficient to maintain and comfortable to inhabit year-round. ## About Firm Terra Architects We are Firm Terra Architects.
