Similarly, rooftop plants struggle with wind dehydration and structural drainage. We do not just use standard garden care. We use salt-tolerant grass varieties and specific foliar feeding to make sure your space survives the Mumbai climate, rather than just struggling through it. ### Why Coastal and Rooftop Gardens Need Specialized Care Standard gardening advice often fails in these two environments. If you are near the coast in Alibag or Mumbai’s waterfront, your soil health and foliage are under constant attack from sodium deposits in the air. We have spent 45 years refining our maintenance routines for these specific conditions. #### Handling Seafront Landscapes Our approach to seafront properties goes beyond basic mowing. We focus on: * **Salt-Tolerant Selection:** Planting species that resist saline wind burn. * **Foliage Washing:** Regularly cleaning salt buildup off leaves to allow proper photosynthesis. * **Drainage Management:** Ensuring your lawn substrate does not become waterlogged, which is a major risk in coastal soil profiles. #### Mastering Rooftop Environments Gardens on terraces face a different set of challenges: intense heat, wind desiccation, and weight restrictions. * **Moisture Retention:** We use specialized soil mixes that hold water longer without adding excessive weight to the roof structure. * **Wind Shielding:** Strategic pruning ensures plants do not get shredded by high-altitude gusts. * **Structural Safety:** We monitor drainage outlets to prevent clogs that lead to seepage, a common, expensive problem for terrace gardens. We operate on an annual maintenance contract (AMC) model because these environments are dynamic. A neglected seafront lawn can degrade in a single season. By having our team visit regularly, we catch issues before they turn into permanent damage, keeping your garden lush year-round. ## About Ferntastica Gardens We are Ferntastica Gardens, and for 45 years, we have been obsessed with making green spaces work in Mumbai.
