The difference matters: our moss poles are filled with sphagnum moss to encourage aerial root penetration for thirsty aroids, while coir sticks provide a durable, straightforward structure for basic vining plants. Why climbing plants need support: In their natural habitat, plants like Monsteras and Philodendrons climb trees to reach more light. When kept indoors, they often lack that vertical surface, leading to smaller leaf sizes and tangled, floppy stems. Choosing the right support: 1. Coir Sticks: Best for basic training. These are PVC pipes wrapped in coco-coir fibre. They are sturdy, long-lasting, and ideal for vines that just need a bit of guidance to stay upright. 2. Moss Poles: These are functional tools for plant health. By filling the mesh or wire backing with sphagnum moss, we create a surface that retains moisture. Aroids can extend their aerial roots into this damp moss, which signals the plant to develop larger, more mature leaves. Setup tips: - Always install the support when potting or re-potting to avoid damaging established roots. - Gently secure the stem to the pole using soft garden ties.
