Instead of starting with strict technical drill, we explore the stories behind the dance, which helps children naturally internalize the complex hand gestures and footwork that define the Jaipur Gharana style. Learning classical dance requires a balance between patience and engagement. In my studio, we do not treat children as miniature adults. The curriculum is specifically adapted to keep young dancers interested while maintaining the integrity of our tradition. We start with the basics of Tatkaar (footwork) and Chakkars (spins), but these are taught as games of rhythm. By breaking down the math of Layakari into simple counting exercises, children gain a sense of musicality that stays with them. Whether it is in-person at my Vile Parle studio or via our interactive online batches, the focus remains on the individual. ### Why Choose This Path? * **Age-Appropriate Pedagogy:** My method simplifies the Jaipur Gharana legacy, making concepts like Padhant and Hastak easy to grasp. * **Small Group Focus:** I limit online batches to 10 students to ensure every child gets verbal correction on their posture and hand angles. * **Holistic Development:** Beyond the steps, students learn discipline, focus, and the ability to express emotions through dance. For those who want to see the results of this training, our annual showcases provide a platform for students to perform. This is not just a dance class. It is a space to learn a 40-year-old family legacy of Riyaz and dedication. ## About Eshani Sathe My mother taught me that Kathak is a conversation between the body and the soul. I carry that same spirit into my classes for children, where we focus on building confidence through the joy of movement.
