## About The Art of Abhinaya: Storytelling & Expression

Abhinaya is not just about looking the part; it is about finding the specific emotion within the composition. When I perform a Thumri or a ghazal, we look at how breath and eye movement change the entire meaning of the narrative. This is the difference between simply dancing a step and truly inhabiting a character.

### The Language of the Eyes

In Kathak, we believe that 'where the hand goes, the eyes follow; where the eyes go, the mind follows.' This is the essence of *Abhinaya*. Whether I am portraying the devotion of a Meera Bai bhajan or the complex emotions of a contemporary ghazal, the goal is to communicate without words. 

### Why Expression Matters

- **Emotional Depth:** Moving beyond pure technique to explore themes like *Biraha* (longing) or the divine love for Krishna.
- **Technical Precision:** Using the subtle nuances of the Jaipur Gharana style to ensure every micro-expression is grounded in classical discipline.
- **Modern Interpretation:** I enjoy blending traditional ghazals with modern storytelling to make classical dance feel relevant to today's audience.

### My Approach to Performances

For private events, festivals, or intimate *baithak* gatherings, I tailor the repertoire to the mood of the occasion. A performance can range from pure devotional storytelling that brings a sense of peace, to vibrant, rhythmic interpretations that celebrate festivals like Holi or Navratri. 

When we discuss your requirements, we focus on the narrative you want to convey. My job is to translate that narrative into movement, whether it is a solo set for an audience of fifty or a thematic production for a larger stage.
