## About Heritage Crafts: Indian Block Printing

My workshops are not about perfection, they are about the rhythm of the stamp. We work with authentic, hand-carved wooden blocks from Rajasthan, using non-toxic inks to print patterns on fabric. You will learn the meditative technique of aligning blocks to create a continuous design, a skill that is quite satisfying once you find your flow.

Block printing is an ancient skill that rewards patience and focus. In our sessions, we strip away the complexity of modern manufacturing and return to the basics: wood, ink, and fabric. You will learn how to handle the heavy wooden blocks, how to apply the right amount of pressure for a crisp impression, and the art of maintaining pattern continuity across your cloth.

We explore different traditions, including Bagru and Dabu styles, helping you understand the history behind these beautiful motifs. Because we use safe, natural dyes and inks, these workshops are suitable for everyone, from children trying their hand at creative play to adults looking for a mindful escape from their screens. Whether you are printing a tote bag, a stole, or simple paper cards, you will walk away with a piece of work that carries your own unique touch.

I conduct these workshops at various locations across Bengaluru. We can set up in a quiet park, a cozy cafe, or your office space—I bring all the materials, including the hand-carved blocks and the fabrics. You do not need any prior artistic experience to join. Just bring your curiosity and get ready to get your hands a little messy with ink.
