It’s actually the opposite. True timelessness comes from mixing textures—like a rough, distressed wood console against a smooth, matte wall—to create depth. If your whole room looks like a catalog page where everything matches, it will feel boring in a year. We help you pick pieces that tell your story, not a furniture store’s. ### Why We Don't Follow Trends Trends are designed to fade. If you base your home on what is popular right now—whether it is a specific color palette or a viral furniture layout—you are setting yourself up for an expensive renovation in three years. We prioritize design principles that have worked for decades: balance, proportion, and function. ### The 'Matchy-Matchy' Trap Walk into any big showroom, and they will try to sell you a set: matching bed, matching side tables, matching dresser. Avoid this. When every piece of furniture in a room is identical in style and color, the room loses its soul. It becomes flat. We prefer to mix elements. A velvet sofa needs a contrasting coffee table; a glass wardrobe needs a warm, wood-grain interior to feel balanced. ### Our Principles for a Home That Lasts * **The 60-30-10 Rule:** We use this to balance colors so a space feels cohesive, not overwhelming. 60% dominant color, 30% secondary, and 10% accent. * **Texture Over Color:** You can have an all-neutral room that feels incredibly rich if you layer smooth finishes with raw, tactile materials like cane or stone. * **Focus on Function:** A beautiful room that doesn't work for your daily life isn't luxury; it's a headache. We fix the flow of your kitchen and the accessibility of your storage before we worry about the decor. If you want a home that feels like it belongs to you—and not a showroom brochure—we are the right team. We will be honest about what works and what does not, even if it means pushing back on a Pinterest dream that won't survive the real world. ## About Elysian Design Studdio We’re Arjit and Sushmita.
