The secret to a successful terrace garden in Delhi is managing the extreme heat and ensuring proper drainage. We install customized pine wood planters with built-in waterproofing and shade nets specifically designed to protect your plants from the harsh summer sun, ensuring you actually get to harvest what you plant. Building a garden in the city is less about having a giant backyard and more about working with what you have. Whether you have a sunny balcony in South Delhi or a spacious rooftop in Gurgaon, we focus on the practical reality of growing food where you live. ### The Setup Process We start by analyzing your sunlight and airflow. Most urban spaces struggle with 'Delhi ki garmi' (Delhi heat) and wind. We use trellis systems for climbers like gourds and beans to maximize vertical space, ensuring your garden stays productive even in a footprint of just a few square feet. For those with larger terraces, we design raised beds using weather-treated pine wood or masonry, paired with automated drip irrigation so your plants get water even when you are busy or traveling. ### Beyond Just Planting Many people struggle because they stick to 'kitabi gyan' (bookish knowledge) that doesn't apply to Indian urban conditions. We teach you the real methods: how to mix mitti with compost for the right aeration, when to prune, and how to manage pests using natural repellents like Neem oil rather than harsh chemicals. If you are worried about maintenance, we offer ongoing support. Our trained urban farmers visit your space to handle succession planting—removing old crops and sowing new seasonal ones—so you have a continuous supply of fresh palak, bhindi, tomatoes, and herbs throughout the year. ## About Edible Routes We are a crew of urban farmers on a mission to bring nature back into city homes. We believe anyone can grow their own food, and we are here to handle the heavy lifting and technical bits so you can focus on the joy of the harvest.
