We start by learning to properly wedge clay—the essential prep work that removes air bubbles—before we even begin shaping. It is these small, technical steps that turn a messy first attempt into a piece you will actually want to take home. My rooftop studio in Pitampura is a quiet escape rather than a rigid classroom. When you join a workshop, you are not just getting a photo opportunity; you are learning the fundamentals of working with stoneware clay. For beginners, we start with pinching and coiling, which are foundational hand-building techniques. For those ready for the wheel, I guide you through the process of centering and opening the clay, which is the most meditative part of the experience. Whether you are looking for a weekend escape or a structured foundation course, my sessions cover the full cycle of ceramics. You will learn about clay preparation, wheel throwing, and, in some sessions, the delicate art of underglaze painting. We keep groups small, ensuring everyone gets enough hands-on time to actually feel the clay, rather than just watching me demonstrate. Most people arrive with a bit of hesitation about getting messy, but that feeling disappears the moment you start working. By the end of a session, you are not just making a bowl or a mug; you are learning to slow down and focus. If you are looking for a serious path, my advanced programs even cover glaze chemistry and kiln firing, taking you from a novice to someone who understands the entire life cycle of a ceramic piece. ## About Dipti Gupta I have spent the last two decades with my hands in clay, transforming simple mud into pieces that hold memories. I don't believe in keeping the craft a secret, so I want you to experience the exact same calm and focus that I find at the wheel every single day.
